ParticipantRe: Merloni
Well I have just had one of Merloni’s Regional Managers call at my place regarding my responding to Merloni’s email for agents/franchisee’s.
He explained the situation regarding Merloni and recruiting and offered me a chance to become either a ‘full’ franchisee or do ‘part time’ work based on a limited postcode area and daily call rate. In both cases the rate was £30 per completed call (WMA drum changes classed as 2 calls =£60). A full franchise requires a £6000 stock holding and part time work between £1500 and £2000 payable with 6 months. In both cases a FREE Laptop is provided with all technical info preloaded. All work is pre-booked via the Laptop each evening by Merloni, and all invoicing, orders for spares etc are all done via that electronic system.
According to this Regional Manager there is a full mix of employed/part time and francised engineers all in my area which is a nightmare to control. The overall intention of the company is the emphasis for recruiting 100{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} franchised engineers throughout the UK because in that way, (and I quote) “it is currently considered by Merloni as THE most effective and cost efficient solution for controlling after sales service for their products!”
They are losing employed engineers at an alarming rate, those that they manage to retain are (quote) “doing sickies more than they are working. And taking the franchise route means they can guarantee the work gets done ‘cos otherwise they don’t get paid!”
He is going to get back to me again to tell me where he has a ‘shortfall’ in the coverage of my patch……Will keep you posted, but as this information was told to me ‘in confidence’ so to speak, I’m not putting my name to any comments at this stage via ‘The Rumour Mill’ for obvious reasons 😉

I spotted that a while back, thinking ‘craft sod’ 😆 😆
I agree with all you say Ken “Related Trades Forum” the way to go
By the way, just another thought, “lines of communication” I never turn my mobile phone off ! and if anyone wishes to contact me 24 hours a day for whatever reason, I always ask them to “TEXT ME”.
I would like to think that we as Admin/Moderators of such an important site, should be in 24hr contact 💡 And the best way is via ‘texting on the mobile’ should something crop up that needs help/comment/instant confirmation/desision or whatever.
Now I must admit to mislaying your mobile number Ken 😳 (I only have Chris’s…from his business card he gave me) Would it not be a good idea at this stage, for us all to exchange mobile numbers AND to have the bloody things turned on ❓ ❓
Just to start to ball rolling, my number is : 07831.593222

I’m sure Ken will have a lot to say on the subject, but hopefully he is taking a well earned weekend break right now 🙂 Chris has a good point here, although IMO not necessarily PL insurance certificate, rather just simply a ‘Company Letterhead’ introduction might be the way to go and less formal 😉 Informality being Ken’s watchword and without too many constraints at this stage of UKW I guess 🙂
To be honest the information issue is no big deal after all (i.e Error Codes etc) Its almost shareware public info stuff anyway, and is only useful to those that can actually use it after all said and done 😉
As long as we clearly discriminate the public at large using the site from those that have some form of association, so much the better. The public after all ARE our bread and butter, all others should be classified as either a help, hindrance or truly one of us anyway 😆
Chris’s observation of those ‘in the trade’ using this site as a learning tool hasn’t escaped me either 😆 😆 😆
Keep smilin’

Kiddi,
The actual fault refers to a ‘water level sensing problem’, but you may read into that what you will because it is only a ‘guide’ as to the fault. Assuming indeed that your machine isn’t blocked (i.e The pump and sump trap) Then it could be a connection failure with the Control Module??
You say you have just moved house, therefore this fault may be due to transit damage in some way?? Did it work OK at your previous house and not at the new location then?( If that’s the case the contacts within the circuit board may well be the fault)

Dave,
Just tell the guy at The Millers that we’re taking over the entire place on the 27th!
Tell him just to leave us a ‘Chef’, a few Serving Wenches and the key to The Wine Cellar. 😆
In return we will make sure Kevin vacates the premises by the 28th, will lock up on the way out and put the key under the mat 😆

Oh dear, that’s what I was afraid of. The ‘Power Module’ (Part No 16032830) cost around £75. But if your guy reckons that is the problem, then go for it 🙂

You will need a new Door Handle Kit replacing (Part No: C00065250) Available from us via ‘shop@’ on the Navigation Bar 😉 Thats assuming you have the same machine model as in the original posting (i.e AWD10UK)

Please book me and Carol a place at ‘The Christmas Bash’ on the 27th, also a Double room please? I understand from the guy at Millers that they are providing a Xmas Menu in the restaurant followed by a ‘Disco’???
