ParticipantRe: indesit w123uk module fault?
Gary,
I still believe it to be a Control Module fault, or connections to it?

ParticipantRe: indesit w123uk module fault?
gary37uk,
What are the symptoms of your machine Gary that make you assume the Module is faulty?
From the info you have given so far, there is little for us to go on, please elaborate?

Hold Up Guys!
Point of order here? “Black Graphite Grease?”…..Surely that is a stable normal ambient temperature, long lasting lubricant for hinges, pivots, springs and sliding mechanisms?
Drum Bearings and Water Seals however ultimately require a synthetic (Silicone type) grease that does not corrode or perish rubber based products and has high temperature capabilties. Especially these days with the high spin speed demands put on them?

Willing to back to school if need be?

maustrap wrote:The washer has been out of commision for a while. I’ve got some fine ‘wet n dry’ paper, would that be ok to clean things up with ?
No! No!
If the shaft and collar is unmarked a smearing from an oily rag is good enough π
Grease up the new bearings and water seal on reassembly (just a smear though)

ParticipantRe: indesit w123s error code 8
First thing to check is the ‘Pump/ Filter Unit’ If the pump is blocked it can cause this error. However if it is clear and the pump OK, then I fear the problem is much more severe I’m afraid. The main electronic circuit board the likely culprit AND expensive to replace π

maustrap wrote:Does it matter if the ‘front’ seal gets trashed ?
Not at all, in fact the front seal is most likely the cause of the failure!….The ‘Bearing Kit’ comes with a new seal anyway. π
Make sure the Drum Shaft, especially the ‘collar’ that accomodates the water seal, is clean and unmarked. Otherwise reassembly would be pointless without fitting a new inner drum shaft as well π

ParticipantRe: Bosch SRS4602GB/13 Module set up
Robert,
It all sounds very suspicious indeed the ‘Tale of Two Repairmen’ and their dubiuos dignoses. It is true what you commented on previously, in that few of us in the trade like repairing ‘slimlines’ due to the difficult access to most functional components. It is more than involved just getting to the drain pump as an example, unlike their conventional ‘full sized’ cousins π
But I believe in this case the second guy has totally misdiagnosed the fault. Furthermore has ‘spun you a yarn’ that it will cost Β£190 to fix. Therefore anyone in their right mind would not proceed with such an expense, this indeed is after all what ‘guy number 2’ is hoping for. He has no diddly-squat idea what is wrong in fact.
I wonder if you have any of this information in black and white from him? I doubt it, but it then would be worth calling out BSH Appliance Care Ltd, and get them to fix it. I bet it is a blocked pump after all and the guy had no idea how to get at it (IMHO) π
In spite of it being a slimline it still is worth a go and should be good for at least 5 years daily useage π

Very interesting Rob, if a little over-enthusiastic perhaps to run it as a series? The whole subject could be covered in half the time I reckon π
Daytime TV stuff at best, but we certainly could provide the basics for you I have no doubt. Research at this stage vital of course, but in order to proceed I suggest you ‘put the idea in writing’ to webmaster@ukwhitegoods.co.uk

ParticipantRe: Ariston Margherita 2000 – I also have a problem!
Samson,
You can get a copy of the ‘Users Operating Instructions’ by telephoning Ariston on : 0870 6070805
They will ask you for the Model number of course π
However a repairers ‘Service Manual’ is not available I’m afraid π

ParticipantRe: Ariston Margherita 2000!
Vicky,
Hey! no need to get too involved here. You say the pump is clear, the impellor rotates freely…right?
OK, Just put the machine on a ‘drain only’ cycle. You should hear the pump working for a couple of minutes then switch off. If it does that, then reset the machine on a ‘rinse & spin’ …It should fill, tumble then drain out and spin.
Report back please!

Of the ‘others’, will someone be coming representing CORGI I wonder?
I think they owe us a visitation at least π

Sadly not Dave, it has to be a genuine Bosch pump π (special fitting)

ParticipantRe: Ariston Margherita 2000!
Vicky,
The problem is still associated to a drain outlet hose blockage or pump problem. Do check the pump/filter again. Make sure the little pump impellor is free to rotate in any direction, I suspect it is jammed with more coins π
