ParticipantRe: hob ignition
James,
We take gas leaks very seriously and would not offer our free advice without pointing out to you that if you are the least bit concerned about your gas hob, do please contact one of our ‘Corgi Registered’ repairers.
Flooded sparkers should not affect or involve any gas leaks and the risk of electrocution minimal under normal operating practices. Do not attempt any repairs or inspections beyond what we have suggested.

I think I will let this issue rest now as my point was overlooked over the contentious issue of the quote : …”out of gas crap!”
However it would be nice if those ‘engineers’ amongst us would refrain from pre-judging certain appliances has having terminal faults without fully equating the facts. Remembering that in almost all instances we can assure the postee that his/her faulty appliance can be repaired, and that they have come to the right place for it to be fixed. In the case of ‘intigrated appliances’ the need for a repair far exceeds the need and practicalities of replacing it. Also to refrain from belittling their purchase and offer fair, unbiased and constructive advice 😉

Oh dear Ken, you had to go into the specific case in point. That we discussed on IRC and kind of agreed to disagree on that. However I was kind of hoping to generate a greater debate from the members by not refering to specific cases here. But seeing as you brought the subject back up and to turn it around and use it as THE case in point….
….UKW guest says his fridge is not getting cold and he has bought a stat and it still doesn’t get cold…..help?
Immediate advice without any suggestion that perhaps an engineer should check it out……….”Your compressor is knackered, £200 plus to fix, go away and buy a new one!”
What are we doing here.??? What is the point??? Perhaps I should throw my toolbox away and join a monastery???(who said yes?)
Does anyone see my point and would venture a comment please, without such dirogatory generalisations of Oh! its a Whirlpool, they are crap, throw it in the bin mate???????/

ParticipantRe: Electrolux built-in Refrigerator problems
It almost certainly is due to lack of ‘Refrigerant’. It must have a leak and you need to call an engineer to ‘Regass’ it.
Go into our Navigation Bar on the left, look up Database, type in your postcode to bring up a list of agents in your area that can help OK 😉

ParticipantRe: Servis 600 washing machine
A model number would help us clarify exactly what machine you are the proud owner of 🙁
The model number can be found inside the pump flap(usually begins with “M”)
But that apart, it is not worth a great deal, especially as it is green, limits the potential straight away I’m afraid. 😥
Between £50 and £100 tops I reckon, seriously now OK 🙂

This posting is a little old now but as ‘docb’ has awakened it. So I would add that the best way to dry out ‘flooded’ sparkers is to light each ring with a match. Place saucepans of water on each ring for 5 minutes then turn off!
You will find that way the sparkers dry out quickly and will work normally again 😉

ParticipantRe: indesit evolution we16 error code: ‘ – con’
Minty,
Another thought is it may indicate that the spin load was unbalanced (i.e. a small but heavy uneven load) indicating a programme‘con’trol time out maybe 💡
Check your User Instruction Leaflet as it may make reference to unbalanced loads 🙄
Sadly for some strange reason Indesit (Merloni) are not very helpful to us in this country when it comes to technical feed-back. We would not have to ‘guess then 😳

Stephen,
I suspect the ‘User Interface” is at fault? If it is model number AAA16001 that would be most likely 🙁

Kirk,
If I could refer you to an old article “When Adam was a lad” on page 2 of “General Trade Forum”, it may bring back a few memories 😉

It will be that the internal base is full of water due to an internal leak. Tilt the machine 45degrees backwards to let the water out, then try and see if it fills. Also, how old is the machine?

I personally cannot wait for news on this posting. James Dyson and his merry men inventing and marketing a ‘unique’ piece of BRITISH hardware that somehow, in this case has, well,…. failed….Surely not 😥

Actually that was my supposition, (which was lost in the recent database crash) I figured if Dave was heading north, Ken was heading south and Kevin meeting in the middle, that they must all have been out camping in Dumfries & Galloway somewhere gazing into their crystal balls?
