    Thanks Dave,

    Its 059040415

Neff ovens use a temp sensor and I would love to stick one in this baby instead of the darned timer. Any help much appreciated.

Well in my case I raised the CRB request at their request, and that once I receive it I pass the original for them to inspect, they then copy it and return it to me.

What county are you in then Tinhips? as I was unaware other counties Trading Standards ran such a scheme other than Hampshire. I would like to think that all regions would soon implement such a scheme though in the not too distant.

Re: Another Indesit timer clicking round

Do you know guys, I would love for Merloni to come back to us here on this thread to explain the situation with these Module problems.

So far no-one from Merloni has commented on technical issues such as this before, in spite of the fact that we all know only too well that they read about the problems we have here on UKW!

Perhaps it is because they too do not and cannot figure out any specific problem in this association, and that they too are just as much in the dark over said problems as we are? They do have the upper hand however, in that their guys out in the field go armed with a box full of Modules on a ‘stick it in and pray it works’ basis!

Alas, we cannot afford to be so wreckless and indecisive as it costs us dearly. Furthermore it directly affects our own business reputations and work ethic badly to the shame of Merloni.

Have since invested heavily in UKW mugs to replace all my Whirlpool ones where the handles fell off.

See one forming a vital part of my office equipment by looking at the Photo Gallery. Get yours whilst stocks last!

This is perfectly true. 2 weeks ago I went to a 9536 with a 1614128 Motor fitted. Partfinder told me the replacement for that model was a 1604810 FHP Motor, as I had neither in stock I fitted a 161747 Armature and switched the Tacho Magnet over, job done!

    Re: Spare Part Warranties

Manufacturers and Distributors will always say they are supplying spare parts to us with very narrow profit margins, that handling costs continue to rise and transportation costs likewise are increasingly costly for them. Once you stop crying over their hard luck stories and realise the vast profits they are still making, it is sickening.

Fortunately the quality aspect of the majority of spare parts is very high and therefore recall failure rates are extremely low. Respect should be recognised to those suppliers that handle and credit us for faulty goods and honour guarantees. The advice can only be to avoid dealing with those that don’t, or at least ensuring you get an even greater profit margin yourself for handling their dodgy mechandise.

I do not do contract work so it is difficult to imagine the difficulties sustained within by those that do. But speaking personally I do have to shop around very carefully between several suppliers as the price difference is incredible (see my thread on Hotpoint Armatures for an example). Fortuneately for me I can supply and fit spare parts at a profit of between 30 and 50{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d}. 30{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} has to be my absolute minimum markup as I do carry quite a healthy stockload and high percentage first time call completion rate also of course to ensure it covers me in case the bit goes belly up!

All the parts I supply and work done carries a 1 year guarantee and I cannot remember the last time a part failed on me, probably years back!

    Re: Local Trading Standards Authority

Just got my CRB Disclosure Certificate back at last. Boy those guys in Scotland work at a slow pace don’t they, almost 7 weeks now! Ah well at least I can confirm to the Trading Standards that I am not a criminal with no convictions, repremands, warnings, cautions or other relevant info they need to know to register me as another one of the good guys.

I now need to send the original certificate to the Hampshire Trading Standards HQ in Winchester. They have contacted many of my previous customers (at random) and they (my customers that is) apparently have given me ‘glowing reports’ in my favour. So it’s just a pen pushing exercise now to allow me to proudly display their Trading Standards Logo on my adverts, website etc.

    Will keep you posted!

    Re: Cats

Was seen off once with a ‘Guard Cat’ at the house of Head of Bradfield College (A local private school). To get to the front door of the house meant assending half a dozen steps onto a porch. On the porch was a table and on the table was a Siamese Cat that kept spitting at me!

Scared the life out of me and I have hated cats ever since. (I adore kittens though – shame they grow into cats eh?)

brian wrote:GDA (Now Merloni) no longer manufacture it’s own motors and therefore no armatures. (The 1601978 motor will soon be obsolete)

    Oh Dear!

Let’s hope then for all our sakes that the ‘pattern boys’ will increase production of armatures to include a 1603071 equivalent?

I would not class myself as a cowboy for wanting to fit an armature and new brushes to an otherwise perfectly good motor! The cost is less than half that of a complete motor replacement and therefore more acceptable to the customer. Start quoting Β£100 plus to replace the motor and you loose the job and those customers won’t buy another Merloni that’s is for certain sure!

We weren’t cowboys years back when Hoover motors were stripped down and repaired by everyone, the Hotpoint Creda Motor is certainly no exception and I think it is a travesty that Merloni have taken this line and are prepaired to take the subsequent loss in excess of 6 figure sums.

All part of a master plan to put us all out of business and possibly even the cowboys!
