Who was it once said : “You can satisfy some of the people all the time, and all of the people some of the time, but you cannot satisfy all of the people all the timeβ???
My colleague and I just laid out the facts, as we know them to be to you, since you asked the question on here of someone, anyone even. That’s all we did Robert, don’t fall out of your tree matey. We appreciate you dropping by, sorry we couldn’t be of more service. Please call by anytime again should you feel the urge, but reign in your niggleometer a bit as I think you have set the threshold a little too low.

DO NOT lubricate the runners with any lubricant. See attached section of the appliance ‘users manual’ on the subject especially the CAUTION section…..

ParticipantRe: Zanussi TLE 1116W bearings
When you get brown in your washing on this beast the bearings are well and truly fooked. Sorry to say but it’s time to call it a day on this one. π

ParticipantRe: Bosch Exxel 8 Variospeed – nasty whirring noise
Motor brushes worn out? Bra wire caught between tub & drum? If it makes the noise with the belt off then it’s the motor.

ParticipantRe: Should I repair or replace… what do you think?
Ah yes! Memories of cooking Christmas dinner on the BBQ in the back garden whilst holding an umbrella against wind and rain. A teasing prospect and such fun, never to be forgotten.

The element’s not brilliant but passable. What of the motor though? Any hint of an earth leak there can cause time-out. So too the pump not draining fast enough though that is far less likely.

We make it a point of giving “gentle” advice here and in your case it’s no big deal replacing the element. Usually it’s just the circular fan element that blows. So power isolated and take a look. Normally the element literally blows it’s metal sheath so it’s obvious that that is what has failed.
Outside of physical indicators other faults will need a fair deal of electrical knowledge in order to diagnose where the fault lies. Hopefully that won’t be necessary. Have fun! π
