As you are aware no doubt, with electronics, unless they detect a complete circuit the microprocessor says NO! The relay on the board can’t close but instead the microprocessor flags up E:09. (Heat pump fault). That at least would indicate that the power board is most probably not the issue in this case.

But knowing these crappy machines as I do, NEVER rule anything out. 😉

Don’t mess with it, instead nip to Asda/Tesco (other supermarkets are available 😉 ) and buy a packet or Dr Beckmann. Follow the instructions on the packet.

Alternatively, fill the machine drum with a bowl of hot water and mild bleach. Rotate drum so one paddle at a time is immersed in the solution and leave for 15 mins each paddle. Shut the door and set to drain only. Then do a Dr Beckmann treatment process for maximum effectiveness…… Simples! 😀

Check the small thermal cut out fixed to the side of the oven. If it’s open circuit then that’s faulty.

Siemens have it all on their site (naturally enough) with full dimensions.

As far as I can recall on these old beasts the seal is merely a push fit. Once the old one is ripped out (it should NOT be glued in place) and the new seal soaked in soapy water first then it just pushes into place. Much like neoprene double glazing window seals and old car windscreens.

Love your mother in laws idea by the way, what’s not to like there eh! 😉

At the side of the door are plastic caps. Lift the caps and inside is a T20 Torx headed screw. Partially unscrew that screw (each side) releases the latch. Then lift the outer panel up and off!

There are 45 different AEG Santo 75388’s so the PNC number would help to get the correct wiring diagram you need. 😉

Testing if the “goalpost”, as you call it, is the reason for it leaking is simple. Just dry the door completely, especially the stainless inner door panel, first. Turn on the machine at let it wash for 10 or 15 mins (ish). Stop the machine, allow the water inside to settle for a few seconds before opening the door. If the seal leaks at any point then the stainless outer part of that door panel will be wet. Solution is to ensure first that the machine is level and that the cabinet is not out of true to the door. (As that would make it leak like a sieve). If not then maybe the inner door edge and the rubber seal are caked in limescale? (That would make it leak like a sieve too!) Level the machine, give the door and seal a good scrub and if it still leaks try fitting that “goalpost” seal. 😉

Oh, further thought, 10 yrs old now so most probably the hinges are worn and/or the door latch is dodgy (yep, you’ve guessed it already – that could also make it leak like a sieve. 😀 )

    Have fun!

Fan oven element – difference in prices?

Yes the fan oven element needs replacing in this case. No, don’t spend eSpares rip off prices. Buy better and cheaper in this websites own spares store. Pattern just as good as genuine and often the exact same part from the same factory.

Oh dear, you’ll have to shell out all of 12 quid on a new interlock then. 🙁
But looking on the plus side, when the spring breaks on one of these the rest of the lock is f@@ked anyway. You could scour your local council refuse drop-off though as there’s bound to be one to be had on the appliance graveyard pile. :clown:
