You put Affresh or Dr Beckmann into the fabric conditioner compartment on the 40 degree drum clean cycle, no cleaning agent on the 90 degree drum clean and no agent on the cold fluff rinse drum clean cycle.

No myth at all but intended for washing machines. Yours being a washer-dryer has a special designated drum cleaning cycle therefore you’d best avoid that type of ‘service wash’ referred to throughout the Internet.

It’s all in the :rtm: 😉

Doesn’t matter at all. But what you do need to do is NOT do a service wash such as you describe. Your machine has a special ‘Drum clean’ cycle that should be operated as per the user instructions provided. Do not use regular detergent but instead a special drum cleaning agent such as Affresh or Dr Beckmann. After a tumble dry cycle (especially towels) use the cold cycle drum clean option.

Then it doesn’t have a tub vent being a washer/dryer. Though you might want to check the dispenser through the door gasket pipe is clean and clear.

The detergent you refer to is it powder or liquid?

Ah that’s better then. It’s probably got a blocked tub vent hose. What is the actual model number (ENr number) on the inside of the door?

Re: AEG Washer Dryer Trips MCB

Dryer elements suffer dampness issues that ultimately corrode the outer metal sheath, worse so when not in use. This means they then short to earth even when not in use. The MCB trips as a result. I’m certain that’s your problem

I assume you refer to the water heater element? But as a rule the dryer heater element is often the cause so have you checked that?

As if to only compound Man U’s difficult season, Jaap Stam returns to Old Trafford, this time with his Blue Army solely intent on knocking them out of the cup. (I might just reinforce the ranks with my presence) 8)

I do. I have an account with them (BSH) and not only does my log-in account say that the part is in stock but I rang them and (no prizes for guessing) it’s in stock….!

Re: Time for a Cup of Coffee and Read

Come the revolution 😉 trade bodies will lobby parliament toward getting an act in law called the ‘Domestic Appliance Block Exemption’ forcing manufacturers to freely share technical information and work in harmony with the independent trade.

But seriously, in truth there isn’t sufficient numbers of indies to force the issue. Dozens of other factors too including the most relevant being the price point of the product. In contrast to the motor trade the price point, the need for regular servicing and the potential life expectancy of a motor vehicle forced the government into acting. The lowly, cheap, disposable white goods and the independent trade trying to eek a living from repairing them doesn’t stand a chance.

Has this fault occured before or since it was modified by Hotpoint’s safety recall?

The ‘high tech’ solution : Short offcut of 4X2 wood placed against the skirting board that prevents the machine being pushed back against the vent hose. Also, cut off any excess vent hose making it as short as possible allowing the exhaust air a shorter run as practical. Finally check the airflow outside (whilst it’s working) ensuring the vent grills are clear and free moving.

May I ask you, not knowing what was done to modify your appliance are you now more confident the safety issue is fully resolved? What reassurance was given by the manufacturers agent of this?
