    Re: Candy SP120TR (37616398 ) No spin

I remember years ago on at least two occasions when the servis quartz was ramping up to spin, the program just cleanly reset with no fault code indicated. It turned out on these occasions to be the RF suppressor at fault. It was not filtering the noise from the brushes and the board was influenced by this unwanted input!

    Dave.

Your right there Dave it is. I sold one to an old lady customer who seems to get on ok with it, but there is no heating element and the spin has a direct drive 4 pole motor so only spins at 1400 rpm 🙄

The trouble is that even after a perfect insulation test there will more than likely be about 50{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} of the mains supply voltage on the cabinet due to the action of the RF suppressor capacitors if the earth at the wall socket is not connected. 😯

It subseqeuntly became evident that this engineer never performs electrical Earth & Contunuity Tests and did not have the necesssary test equipment i.e. Insulation Tester ( Megger) worse still he could see no reason why he should adopt such measures!

i can see your engineers point!. You can megger as much as you like, and a satisfactory reading is great, but the most important thing in my mind is a good earth at the socket and a good earth bond to the machine.
how many engineers megger the machine and think that is all that is neccesary to be safe? All an insulation test will do is show up components that have either failed or are about to fail, the problem as i see it is that if all readings are ok at the time of the test, a future earth leakage could be dangerous if the house wiring has no (or insufficient) earth. 😯

Hi Steve, I once had exactly this problem, and in the end it turns out to be a software problem when fitted to certain models and the only cure is to fit a pre-configured module. 👿

Also the hose from matrix to sump can get blocked causing overfill in matrix and overflow into sump.
good idea to unplug it first ❗

I use a long reach 13mm socket to push over the barb side of to pin which keeps the barb pressed in and then use a large pair of 90 degree long nose pliers to pull the pin out. 😆

    Re: Sneaky Police Speed Trap

I am absolutely convinced that the speed cam is nothing more than a very lucrative money making machine, much to the delight of the anti-car extremists that always seem to get jobs in high places and also seem to be able to brainwash a good proportion of the general public that their argument is valid.
In my area I find that wide open roads are set at a stupidly low limit for the entire length, whereby only a couple of short stretches of it would warrant that sort of limit, and that is only at certain parts of the day, (but you won’t find the cameras located in these spots). The fact is that most drivers can drive at a naturally safe speed which takes into account conditions, time of day (Schools etc) and weather, and most of the time the driver would probably be making quicker progress than some stupid camera would allow.
I know there are some drivers that have no sense whatsoever on the roads, and would most likely have accidents anyway no matter what speed they were travelling, so why not concentrate on doing people for driving at inappropriate speed for the prevailing conditions instead of taring everyone with the same brush?.
The cameras in my area are located in places where safe progress can be made and not in obvious danger spots, also mobile camera units are never monitoring the safety of children jumping out onto the roads outside school, but much further up the road where the road is straight and clear (and safe).
You here the do gooder anti anything lobby saying that you will will be less likely to have an accident if you reduce your speed from 40 to 30, but why stop there? surely from 30 to 20, then 20 to 10 then.. oh we are at walking speed – JOB DONE!
I don’t know why we all put up with this obvious SCAM. 👿

    Re: Really smart tumble dryers?

Now youv’e got me thinking (which makes a change). This method, which more than likely won’t work, but at least it may give you a laugh, has just come to me.
What if there there was no heater, or airflow at all!. sounds stupid i know, but thinking about the operation of a negetive ion generator that, with a high negetive charge can cause a wind of ions to freshen a room, what if the washload in a drum (plastic with lots of holes) was revolving and the load made to have a very high negetive charge, while just under the drum a grounded grid was atracting the charged moisture from the laundry?
