ParticipantRe: Bosch filter
Hi!
144484 superseded 144305 on our van stock
It appears they have changed the design of the filter to give it a longer handle as customers were reporting diffiulty openining the earlier types.
Unfortunatly the real reason they couldn’t open them mostly was because they were so full of crap 😆 , but anytime an engineer books a warranty call to a machine for a blocked pump and says ‘Customer unable to remove filter’ instead of charging the lazy bleeders the factory concened look at the part, improve it and thus it gets superseded. Seems this is what happened here.
Not much help for you though 🙁
I went to a new one the other day (WAE type) and that had one fitted, had to replace the pump as a coin had damaged the housing, accidental damage cover agreed to pay for it so saved the filter and is the new type, if you get really stuck PM me and i’ll post it on, better than nothing! 😀

Hi
Part number for the NTC is 425059
Did have one once that was a faulty board but would go for the wires or NTC first as these are far cheaper options!

ParticipantRe: Bosch DW Odd Fault
Hi
I should imagine that if it was ok before they attacked it with a steam cleaner it would be the module, and I have never heard of a fault code showing itself in that way. The number 7 don’t really add up as a fault code either according to my information, to arrive at this fault code you’d have to have a filling fault, a heater fault and a turbidity sensor fault all combined, not only is this very unlikely but it should only show in the service test programme.
I’d hedge my bets on a board, part number 489607 and is about £73.00 plus the VAT.

ParticipantRe: DO YOU TELL THEM
When I worked for one manufacturer (we all know who?!) I used to get a heap of agro especially returning for the third time to replace bearings, module or refit a spun backplate, 👿
The customer would ask ‘Do you get much trouble with these?’
To which i’d reply in a sarcastic tone ‘No madam, its a quality product’
If they still didn’t take the hint i’d say ‘oh well only another 15 calls to do today’ or ‘I can’t move on that Transit for backplates and modules’
One customer had all the old drums in her front garden growing plants in them 😆

ParticipantRe: Good reason for not giving away information…
In a sad sort of a way she deserved it, dosn’t it just show what a sad ignorant society we live in today? Perhaps if more people do it they may value us more?
You did the right thing by giving no advice, i do the same and its very rare thet i’ll give advice on the public forum, i’ll leave that to the diplomatic ones that can deal with the stupidity of the general public, but i will and do give any advice i can in the trade forum for fellow tradespeople. 🙂

Hi
I had one, i’m sorry to say it was the worse thing I had ever driven! Was an 1.8 diesel and was so so slow and underpowered, like the old escort van but heavier. Nothing but trouble with linkage cables and gearboxes, box came out on 3 occassions at main dealer, once to put the flywheel back on 😯 and twice for box related trouble. At 100,000 miles we got rid of it, tyre wear was awfull, mostly 5,000 mile mark. Was off the road every 6 weeks!!
I always bought Ford Vans and Cars and really liked them but that monstrosity put me off for life 😥
I now drive a Vauxhall Combo 1.7CDTi and its great! 60,000 miles trouble free, 20,000 mile service intervals, fantastic on fuel, avaraging 12,000 miles on front tyres (Continental). Comfortable to drive. The only gripe I have with it is the screen wash resevoir is too small and am always refilling it! And I keep loosing wheeltrims at £20 a time so they got cable tied on!

ParticipantRe: Bosch HBN56M550 Double Oven smells of paraffin
Hi
Have you done the initial ‘Burn’ as described in the instruction manual?
The elements (and oxylytic liners if fitted) are covered in a laquer when maufactured to protect them from atmospheric moisture ingresion.
If you haven’t done the ‘Burn’ then the laquer will still be present and will give the smell described, you may also have a little bit of smoke.
If you are unsure of the process in the manual, then give BSH appliance care a call on 08705 678910 and ask to speak to someone in product advice.
Hope this helps 🙂

Thanks Chris,
Sounds a bit like that water management system that BSH used on the SPS series?! Sounds like they get gunged up like ours do then. 😆
Seen something that would of distresed you today, a cocker spaniel tearing to shreds a ‘Persil’ Mumble the Penguin 🙁

Hi
Maybe the wiring from the swivel head into the machine, or as Greg has said, the microswitch on the swivel head, had all manner of combined switch failures on these but never the operator one on the handle, even had resets blown! Very little availible for them, although some help maybe that they were made by VAX.
My best advice to you is scrap it! 😥
