Re: Hoover Vision HVP 16 Error Code 5

    Good Afternoon.

I believe that error code 5 is a heater or sensor problem, FIRSTLY PULL THE PLUG.

Then if you are reasonably technicaly able, check the heater for continuity with a multimeter or test lamp, if this is OK then then it will be best to call an engineer as it could be either a sensor or PCB problem, Check the Repairs@ section on the left ot the page to see if there is an engineer in your area.

If the heater is open circuit then a new heater is available from Spares@ also on the left.

    Hope this helps

    Hi

First thing First PULL OUT THE MAINS PLUG.

Then if you can lean the machine back a little (get someone to hold it if poss) and have a look underneath at the motor, There should be a small magnet fixed firmly to the center of the spindle by a plastic screw.

These often become loose and either fall off or come to far out to work properly, You should be able to screw it back into place and that should sort out your problem,

While your there, make sure the Tacho coil is pushed firmly back in place with the little spring clip thingy in place.

If the thread is damaged on the magnet (will not do back up and just keeps turnng round) a repair kit is available from Dave click on the spares section and send a message from there

    Hope this helps

    Re: whirlpool cooling fan

I got one of these 4819 361 78218 a few weeks ago from connect and it was £45 + Vat,

One thing you need to take into account is that the old one has the plug socket in the motor, the 4819 361 78218 doesn’t, it has the plug on a trailing cable, which DOES NOT fit the old plug so you will have to cut it off and crimp a new connecter to it.

Remember this when you go to fit it !!

Re: British Gas, might be looking to poach engineers?

Chatting again to him, it turns out their engineers are offered £500 as an incentive for anyone they can recruit.

He’s a handy chap to know, as he’s always got a van load of spares that he’s always willing to donate to my cause, I got 4 Zanussi PCBs ( the late computer boards) a front PCB a couple of new motors and a few other odd modules, all boxed, sealed and ordered in error, if anyone get’s desperate for one give me a shout.

At the moment though i’m staying put, although if anyone can suggest any work providers that might be interested in throwing a few peanuts in my direction i’d be gratefull.

Not had a single job off Repairs@ yet 🙁 had a couple from directory searches though.

    Re: Hotpoint 9326 Tumble Dryer

Hey Washerman, don’t be so defeative 🙂

Most likely drum bearings and spider gone, and if you love the dear onld thing then get it fixed, You’ll be looking at around £100 or so when you consider the average life of a new machine it’s worth doing if the rest is in relativly goos condition.

Get them to check the motor and change the brushes at the same time, if you look in the repairs@ section on the left hand side, you will find a nice chap in your area who will be happy to sort it out for you.

    Hope it helps

Out of curiosity, How often do you use the machine, Is it in a normal domestic enviroment i.e. 2 point 4 kids, as this does seem excessive failure.
