Motor has three circuits – brushes(armature), field coil, tacho generator. If there is a seventh terminal, it is linked to the field coil. If you get three circuits, test the wiring loom.

Please ensure the power is off.

Ok, do as the quote above, do NOT hit advance, complete sequence. Fault should come up as a combi of the 8 wash lights – read off right to left starting from “spin”.

Just noted your second post – must have crossed in the ether, thanks.

    6c this morning……. 🙁

Do not, do not, do not apply live electric direct to the motor. All you need is a multi meter or an engineer.

    Hi Jack,
Not a valid code I’m afraid. The spin light should not be flashing if you have entered diagnostic mode successfully – it should be on or off.

If you would post up the model number as per my first post, I can advise you a bit more precisely.

P/nos in my last post. If you don’t have a reading of 62 ohms on the cold valve, it’s faulty and needs to be replaced at least. Splicing/soldering wires should not be neccessary, simply remove the connector and refit.

The motor board is the lower one of the two boards in the console panel. Do the valve first, it’s a damn site cheaper the the board.

Re: Tricity Bendix weak drum rotation

This is an induction motor machine, so uses a capacitor to (effectively) kick the motor into action. This becomes less effficient over time – light loads only is a classic sympton.

I can’t find it on the tech disc, so if someone else can find the part number, perhaps they’d advise.

Hot water is always dirty water – it’s why your Granny never fills the kettle from the hot tap.

Re: Hotpoint WMA34P Aquarius doesn’t start washing

Almost certainly a motor related problem. Check for wiring problems, condition of motor brushes – test meter is the weapon required. If these are ok, the problem will almost certainly be in the control board.

    Power off if investigating.

There will be an obstruction somewhere. Often, the only solution is to pull the drum out and split the bottom housing.

If you are not confident, please get pro help – check the link below for a repairer in your area.

    Power off if investigating further.

Re: smart drive 7.5 stops and starts

Be glad to help Stu, but, two things –

    1) Need the actual model number – GW/MW/IW and the numbers.
    2) Run the diagnostics.

Hold Wash Temp Down, then Power On. At this point the model is important – phase 1 + 2 machines need you to push Advance once. Later machines don’t. Press Spin until Hold and Slow Spin are lit. At this point, the wash progress panel will light. The pattern will tell us the fault code. Post from right to left – 1 for “on”, 0 for “off”
