If you are very brave, you can remove the heater and go fishing. Be warned that the heater can be very reluctant to go back in.

Power off, of course :plug: .

    Re: Fisher Paykel wont spin

With the machine off, hold down “Temperature Down” and hit “Power”. Use the “Spin Up” button until the “Hold” and “Slow” lights are lit. Read off the lights across wash progress display and post them up, this will form a binary code which will offer some guidance as to what is wrong.

We need the model number as well please.

    Re: Miele parts diagrams

Every part on a Miele has a number starting with “T—-” on it somewhere. This is the part number. The only other manufacturer who used to do this was Domar – best known in the UK as Newpol……………..

    Re: Blomberg 1515aaa flashing lights

Blomberg is a brand name used by Comet. In my experience, once the guarantee period has passed there is no chance of “free” support. Unfortunate really, as these are well made German built appliances by the Brandt company. Their technical support is notoriously poor amonmg the trade members of this site.

So – apply some logic. You both say that the machine runs for a while, before faulting. Possibilities – not reaching the required temperature in the time allowed (heater circuit failure); not draining out in the time allowed (blockage, drain restriction, pump failure); draining but thinking it’s still full (level system blockage/switch failure); possibly not even reaching the required water level in the time allowed (water valve failure).

At best, the “codes” are a guide, most faults can be solved by a methodical approach, observation and some careful testing (with the power off).

If you are unable to do this safely, please check repairs@ or Directories for a UKW engineer in your area.

Does it advance to the end, or to the “spanner”?

By stroke of luck lady at the gym had a 2 year old Servis machine going spare as she’s moving house, so taking that off her hands as will probably work out cheaper than repairing the beast.

Oh dear, we shall hear from you again, I’m afraid. The LG is (was?) a decent quality appliance, and the repair, while pricey would probably have been worthwhile. The Servis is not, but if it was free, enjoy it while it lasts. These also destroy computer boards, which (curiously, for a cheap-end machine) can be dearer than the ones for the LG.

    Good luck,

Re: hotpoint 9605 top loader pully problem

In 70 years of dealing with these, I found that they weren’t about for the first 35……… 😀

I have had 2 or 3 where the nut has come loose and the pulley starts slopping about. These all very quickly changed the key way from a “double D” into a “Figure of 8”. Steel in alloy, no woodruff key, obvious really. No amount of tighteneing will remove the slack, as it is in the lateral plane rather than the compression plane.

Have you re-set and tried reprogramming? These “hang” at the point they got to, even if you power off. Hold down start button for about 5 seconds, and whatever it was doing, it should cancel. Then see what happens.

No reduction in water level detected over a thirty second period. Check for kinked/crushed drain hose, pump may be blocked, water level control malfunctioning or (unlikely) electronics failure.

    Power off if going inside.
