ParticipantRe: Sanctions
I have no problem with that in principal. I still think that some sort of acknowledgement that action has been taken needs to be made, and if I understand Ken’s reply in the Defining thread correctly he would like it fully documented and reported. I don’t agree with that and think a report should be available should someone present a reasonable case for viewing it.
I have some reservations with the Expulsion bit – a case going to court will take time to be dealt with and we could be seen to be pre-judging the issue by booting someone out. What to do with them in the meantime…………?

ParticipantRe: Hotpoint or Candy!!! Which is Best?
Hi Andy,
As Hotpoint is a part of the Indesit Company and there is an extensive cross-over between the machines they produce, that may not be the machine you want. Never personally been a fan of Candy washers. How about the Whirlpool AWM1404/4 for slightly less, or the Zanussi ZWF1221W for slightly more? Better still, take the budget up to £300 and get the Bosch WFO2467. Two year warranty is a good bonus as well.Regards,

So where did the “P45 said” bit come from? I hit “quote”, then cut and pasted (damn good that, it’s take the Mrs weeks to teach me….), then “unquote”.

The only info is on a very expensive CD rom, and is little more than a selection of exploded diagrams.
You should be checking for loose/broken concrete weights by the sound of it, or possibly the suspension legs and their mountings. Bear in mind that the drum shaft will have a small amount of end float as standard.
Power off when going inside :plug:

There’s nothing in any of the tech info either, Lu. The safety shut off on the dryer section trips at about 180c, so the drying temperature will be at least 15-20c below that. Beyond that, can’t tell you too much. It may be reasonable to deduce that the “damper” programmes use a lower temperature, but there is no way to be sure.

ParticipantRe: Missing out on spares sales
Never mind what they’re doing in Off Topic – that’s what it’s for. Alexa’s scout-about has been quite revealing – I had a go at what he’d been up to and he’s right – dead ends and loops.
The real problem may well be that a site like espares has invested the sort of money that we don’t have into a data base to load up part numbers and a search facility which is easy for a punter to use.
If we are going to be competing with that sort of thing, let’s do something simple. Change from “Spares@” to “Spares? Just Ask!” and make that a link. It’ll do what it says on the tin and won’t involve rewriting code and God-knows-what. It’s a bit Jeevesy, which people will recognise and retains the personal touch, which is hoiw it all works at the moment.

Almost certainly a computer board failure, given what has been discussed so far. A replacement board is £109.83 plus VAT, and you need to swap the eeprom chip yourself. Part number is C00080668 should you be interested.
You need to weigh this up against the purchase cost of the appliance and the extensive comments about the quality of these appliances (the Indesit “W” series is the same machine) to be found within these forums.
Personally, I believe that there are far superior machines out there.

Alternately, you can just drop the drain hose into the washing-up bowl and wait………. 😀

It is not a fault, it’s a maintenance job. Given that when the machine hits the 1600 loony spin, the drive motor is doing 24,000 rpm, it’s amazing that they last as long as they do.
Anyway, these:

are the common ones that fit most Brandt machines.
If you have a varispin option on this machine, back it off to 11/1200rpm, you gain nothing above that and simply work the machine harder.

Please don’t attempt any form of gas repair yourself, it just isn’t safe. Youmust use a Corgi registered repairer for the well being of yourself and your family.

Better explain that one Gegsy – I detect no hint of fish in this thread – and let’s face it, if anyone was going to notice it would have been me!
To be serious for a moment, let’s just cut out the blatant crudity shall we? Plenty of good gags without.
