Search on “WEEE” Alexa – it’s coming. Hopefully we repairers aren’t going to cop for it, the manufacturers will. This should imply an on-cost to the consumers but the big retailers over here are saying “Nothing to do with us”, as it will involve a price increase.

We don’t do servicing – we give the machine a once over when a repair is required and advise accordingly.

The doorlock is a switch mechanism; it is possible for the door to lock, but not to switch the power through to activate the machine.
Unless you can you a test meter safely, it’s time for pro help.

3 in 1 tabs are discussed quite regularly, the trade generally agree that separates are a better bet, especially with regard to salt issues. The salt water side of the dishwasher is internal and never reaches the wash side of the machine, so why put salt in the tab? It’s external. Secondly, all machines operate differently, so how can a water soluble tablet dispense at the correct point of the cycle?
SMEG is a generally respected brand by the repair trade, so don’t worry too much – if it has hiccuped, it will be repaired and should give you a good few years service. We have one ourselves, and it has been excellent to date.

Sounds like the main oven thermostat is playing up. You must only get this repaired by a CORGI registered engineer in the interest of safety.
A check in repairs@ or Directories may show a suitable UKW engineer in your area.

The element is secured from the rear of the oven wall by nuts. The SMEG element required may well be in shop@ on the site. If you would post the model number of your appliance we would be able to check.

‘Fraid that’s only part of it and will cover a range of machines. The label may well be on the roof of the casing, so the oven must be slipped forward out of the housing. Be very careful if this is a double oven – they are extremely heavy.
