Shiner,
DC wants the serial number of the appliance. This will be on the rating plate with the model number and electrical info on it – try down by the crisper bins as a starting point.A fuse is simply a way of controlling power to a component, so whilst ideally you should fit the correct one, for your testing purposes it should allow power to the fan. As it continues not to run, it points to the fan motor being at fault.

Until comparatively recently, I was just about the only Leeds independent doing Bosch/AEG/Bauknecht/Meile repairs. The reason? “They’re different” was the most commonly touted one I heard. Untrue. Parts are hard to get was another – untrue. Parts are expensive – some, yes, but so what? All my work’s chargeable 😀 .
You may be aware that we recon plenty of German machines for the student landlords and letting agencies. I turn a far higher margin on the German machines, as they are disposed of for the stupidest of reasons – brushes, blockages, doorlocks and the like. I can sell them at a higher price (being German) and do far less work than a comparable Hotpoint machines.
I conclude that there are large numbers of people across the country who simply cannot find independent repairers prepared to deal with German machines.
As for the Hotpoint “cash cow”, well that went out the window with the WMA series for sure. We don’t go near the things – after all, I’d have to guarantee it, and if I’m replacing broken junk with new junk, it’s still junk! No thank you.
And as for the Indesit/Ariston W/A series…….
Cheers,

Well, it’s chucked it down for 4 days solid now, one of the kids is ill, the teenager’s at war with grandad and this is the slowest dialup on Gods snow encrusted earth.
Can I come back to work yet.

Ah, yes, the EPROM……. Don’t tell you that do they? No little service sheet to say “Swap the EPROM over”.
That’s The Indesit Company for you…………….
Glad you resolved it.

ParticipantRe: Corgi cowboys?
Begs an interesting point, if I may speak from my distant floe. Mr X has 40 years of formal, legal, quantified training and certification. How many of us non-Corgi, electric appliance can say anything like that?
Most of us will have done some sort of company training at some distant point in the past, some of us are self taught, some of us are learning the job via UKW (and good for us). Most current learning among the independents is “on the job”.
So Mr X will drop his registration, but his particular skill levels are probably still extremely high in his chosen field. Unfortunate that his chosen path would be in breech of the law; ridiculous that our own skills are completely unregulated, quantified and have no legal standing whatsoever.
There has to be a middle ground somewhere for all small traders to stand on and be recognised.

Drive belt is p/no 12582888-10/7, contact spares@ukwhitegoods.com to order.I am unable to give exact instructions as to how to do the belt swap – sufficed to say it is a “screwdriver job” and that laying the dryer on its face helps.
Please check: http://www.ukwhitegoods.co.uk/modules.p … pic&t=4359 for an explanation.

It’s behind the control panel. There is no safe way of testing the component, however it is a known and regular problem to the Trade, so Martin’s diagnosis will be 99.99{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} correct.
If you are not sure of your abilities, please get pro help. You can check in repairs@ukwhitegoods.com or Directories for a UKW repairer in your area.
Pull the plug before doing anything………. :plug:

ParticipantRe: AEG72620, wash OK but door does not release
In that case, you want 8996453073-70/3 – door interlock – about £21 + VAT etc. As a temporary measure, a sharp tap on the casing next to the door handle will often shock the lock into releasing!

Don’t panic at the cost – spares@ukwhitegoods.com will probably be able to source a suitable replacement at a significantly lower price. It may well be after the Bank Holiday however.
