ParticipantSounds a bit tired….. The noise is probably coming from the compressor – it should be sitting on four rubber shock mountings. These settle over time and can lead to a variety of interesting noises, most of which, whilst irritating, are harmless.
Hopefully the bulb blowing was just a result of dampness caused by the defrost process.
Seimens/Bosch is generally decent gear – probably worth getting someone in to check it out – have a look in the Directories section for a UKW engineer in your area, or pop your postcode up and someone will pick up on it.

ParticipantPlease advise model reference, as there are a number of permutations with these machines.

ParticipantRe: Indesit D4000 WG stuck on rinse and water not heating
Quite a few possibilities with this I’m afraid – heater, thermostats, wiring or timer are all potential culprits.
The way this machine is configured is that at the heat position the timer is stationary. The thermostat, upon reaching temperature completes the circuit to the timer motor, which will then advance on through the programme.
If you are not sure how to use this info, check the Directories section for a local UKW engineer, or stick your postcode up in here and someone will pick up on it.
If you’re going to have a look yourself, pull the plug first.

ParticipantGood choice Caz, good luck with it. And, don’t forget you’ve got a 2 year warranty on it.

ParticipantSi,
Get a recon from EMW or QER – probably save you a few bob; and you still get a guarantee – check in Directories.Chris.

ParticipantRe: Hoover TV30 wont heat up?
Ok Col,
Bit more to go on – I have seen several of these where the wiring chaffs through in the front right of the cabinet – it’s a front off job to check – be very careful of the little PCB.Can’t give you exact instructions, but try that and see how you go.

ParticipantCol,
Theoretically you can replace the thermal fuse on the heater unit. It’s an awkward sod of a job, and I have broken several units over the years – and I’m a professional! Seriously, replacing the heater is a far more straight forward operation, but you are only curing the sympton. Why has it failed in the first place? Airflow is the normal answer – the thing is an airpump, so any restriction will reduce airflow and trap heat. Filter is the obvious one, trapped or kinked venthose, lack of ventilation to the installation, or even no weather cowl on the outlet hose.
The normal cause is people setting the dryer for 90 minutes, giving it an hour, then opening the door to see how it’s going…… Machine is red hot then the air stops moving – big rise in temperature – off goes the thermal fuse.
Hope that clarifies things a bit,

ParticipantRe: UKW…The future?
This is not a trade association, this is a meeting place, discussion shop, knowledge resource, help centre and whatever other nefarious activities we choose to indulge in in the privacy of our own bit of cyberspace. It is unregulated beyond language.
Should we choose to become a Trade Association, we will have to regulate, formulate codes of practice, form commitees and mind our P’s and Q’s, and not least; set some aims and goals.
We have a Trade Association – it’s called DASA. The fact that so many of us choose not to become members speaks volumes for the regard with which it is currently held. However, we all know perfectly well that the restructuring and reorganisation of DASA is now under way and that maybe soon their stock will rise.
As for a return on the investment in time and effort put into this site by our members, consider that UKW is not yet 18 months old. We are still doing the groundwork; again we all know that things are afoot – eJobs will be with us soon. Even now I am picking up a small but steady stream of work through Directories.
Personally, I like the style and informality of the current set-up; I like the bridge being built to the public and I definitely like the growing interaction with manufacturers, WP’s, wholesalers et al.
Patience Martin, this is an evolving body not to be particularly pushed or rushed in any given direction.

ParticipantIt’s a proper German built machine, so will be mechanically tough as old boots. Unless you wish to consider the perfection of Miele, don’t search around any further.

ParticipantSarah,
This is likely to be a compressor failure. The clicking noise will be the start relay coming on start the motor, which is not responding.Likely to be expensive – one of the fridge lads should be able to tell you more; the model number would be useful for a more exact diagnosis.

8 flashes relates to heater problems, usually on the digital control board.
Check the “Indesit WE165” thread below in this forum for the complete story.

ParticipantSteve,
This is often a “no heat” fault. There is a thermal safety fuse as part of the heater assembly which will fail in an overheat situation. Unfortunately, it is a single shot device. The correct home repair is to replace the heater assembly – Dave_Conway should be able to advise a price for you in the morning.
If you are unable to perform the diagnosis or have any doubts about your own abilities, get professional help. Check the Directories section for a local UKW engineer or, pop your postcode upn and someone will pick up it.
Whatever you do, Pull The Plug First.

ParticipantCan you supply the model number for this appliance? Usually on the control panel, or check the label around the door opening. There are so many Zanussi variants that it is almost impossible to give an opinion!
