P4 is programme selected. Start by checking door latch function. Won’t start/programme properly if latch mechanism is playing up.

Drain pump blocked or failed? It’s accessible through the lower front cover plate.

Bail out as much water as you can before removing it. There is a locking tab to release, then the pump should pull away for inspection.

    Power off first.

Re: Gone with Bosche over Miele, have I made a good choice?

Machine is decent enough – at least the tub is servicable if the bearings ever do fail. Carbon brush drive motor, so they will wear out at about 3 years. This is a maintenance job, rather than a failure.

Little chance that the machine will see 18 years I’m afraid…….

Heater should read 20-25 ohms, so yours is knackered.

Whirlpool are just as guilty; if you want to put this back on topic?

They’ve sold millions of Crosslee dryers over the years. Take the lollipop element as an example. Dave flogs this to the public for £19.53. The Whirlpool list price is £68.60…… plus VAT. You can buy it through your wholseale of choice for about £4.50.

    Now THAT is profiteering!

‘+ ‘won’t work, Mike, you have to use ‘AND’ between words.

As per Jim’s suggestion, have put article into WTA site. Ken will now have to find it and stick it up for the world to see.

Door lock more likely, then – possibly motor related. Heater cannot be activated until door lock has engaged.
