The vari-stat starts and stops the timer at the heat position – it does not turn the heater on and off.

Correct……. Circulation throws water on the heater.

So, is the vari-stat actually making and breaking the circuit?

If it fills, stops filling and puts the heater on, the pressure system is working, surely?

Sounds more like a circulation issue.

Motor problems. Check wiring for continuity and breakages. Check continuity through motor. Being an Indesit-based machine the problem is probably the pcb.

Be warned – this machine uses a high speed three phase induction motor. As a consequence, the capacitors on the pcb may store a charge of up to 500v for a period of ten minutes after programme completion.

Pulling the plug is not enough – you have to wait.

Lid is retained by two spring latches at the rear. Lift each in turn while forcing the lid to the rear.

Side panels are retained by two screws in the front edge.

If you have a similar resistance reading when you meter the heater through the cabling from the pcb end, the only component left is the pcb.

Stick up the 12nc number (The one that starts with 8 ) and we should be able to identify it for you.

Ignore the beeps – count the pattern of the flashing start light; ie 1-2-3-4-pause-repeat.
