Machine is mine now as the customer got fed up and bought a new one. I tried a different pressure switch which made no difference. I don’t think it’s the motor as it sometimes spins OK on the long spin. It never manages the whole spin but sometimes stays on long enough to pick up speed. This is the “Quick & Clean” model so there is an additional control for supposedly adjusting the programme time. Could this gubbins be at fault?

Do you know if that particular Bosch has a welded tub? If it has a proper tub you can dismantle I will make a note of it to tell my customers.

I actually had to renew all 3 parts of the timer knob assembly as someone (Service Farce?!) had glued the outer knob on and I had to use brute force to break it off. I think the connection blocks will only fit the correct way on these and in any case would not explain the original fault. I don’t think in this case the customer has had a go.

These days you won’t get a good machine for that price. You could consider an ISE AW23 if there is a dealer in your area but the initial outlay is higher. The guarantee is longer than the other makes though and it will last longer than a £250 machine.

I have been known to wire up a motor with individual spades in such cases.

How many people buy drinks with a £50 note ? Sounds highly suspect to me 😉

Thanks Chris. I normally just change the coil but in this case I don’t have anything that will fit. I will keep the good coil off this one though so if I ever get the same fault on the same model I will be prepared!

I don’t have much sympathy. They stopped me from using the website because I had not placed an order for a while. I didn’t bother with them again…..

ParticipantRe: Masterparts parts search frustration!
Yes, you often need to do a bit of detective work to find what you want. Bearing kits are always difficult to find because if you do a search on model number it seems to only come up with the genuine parts, not their own pattern parts. Often you need to look up the genuine seal then it gives the Masterpart kit as an alternative.

I’m glad I don’t have to work under that sort of pressure. It’s when you have to work against the clock that you cut corners or overlook things. I’ve worked on WMA machines that have had a tub change done by Hotpoint. When I do them I carefully redo all the cable ties I’ve had to remove. They don’t bother, leaving wires to rub on the front counterweight.

Phone CDA on 01949 862000.
The number they will want I think is marked as “type”, e.g. CM4SS. Best of luck with it. I wanted a circuit board but they sent 3 items before they managed to get the right one :rolls:

In my experience the recall rate is extremely low. I do sometimes change bearings twice on the same machine but the replacement ones last a few years 😕

ParticipantRe: Soldering Guns
I don’t know if the dearer guns have a different tip material but I’ve had a couple of cheap ones from places like Lidl and it’s difficult to keep the tip tinned. For most jobs an ordinary iron with copper tip is better but I’ve managed without my trusty Antex iron I’d had since the mid ’70s having lost it a few years ago 😥

If you run it on dry for a few minutes then remove the lid (with plug out) you can check if the heater box on top of the tub is getting warm. If it is warm you may have a problem with the fan. If it is cold you may have a faulty thermostat, heater or broken wire. Sometimes there is a reset button on one of the thermostats near or on the heater box.
