Yes, strange 😕 You can get a blow up diagram on Connect Mediator but the only bits that look like they might be bearings are not in the parts list. For the small shaft Bekos you can use Electrue kit BRG9107, a lot of the larger shaft ones use seal 270108000.

Masterpart list it as bearing kit ZN05112, unfortunately out of stock 🙁

Yes, part of the main board. If you have a scrap board you could try changing the relay yourself. You can identify which one by tracing the wires from the heater.

If a bearing has been turning on the shaft and there’s slight wear you can use Loctite Bearing Fit to glue the new bearing to the shaft. I’ve not needed this on the Hotpoints so far but have used it a few times on Zanussis. In such cases the shaft O/D is generally only undersize by about 0.001″.

What do you use, a hot air gun? I would be worried about melting the plastic.

ParticipantRe: hotpoint wma drum bearings
I don’t think you can buy the half tub that takes the smaller bearings, so some people do convert later machines to take the bigger bearings. I would say it’s not worth trying to do that though. As mentioned, you would have to change the spider and that in itself is a difficult job as the screws are always rusted in solid. Changing the bearings is not too bad a job on the 30mm shaft machines as the front bearing outer race comes out much easier than it does with the 35mm type. It may therefore be an idea to buy half tubs for the big bearing models and bearing kits for the small bearing machines.

The part came today and it’s just a two position rotary switch 😥

ParticipantRe: Hotpoint Thermostat Kit 1703200
I also ordered HP66100, Masterpart version of 1701583. These are the same as described but the temperatures are 106 and 130. I’m tempted to use the 106 degree one from HP66100 with the 140 degree one from HP66101, although I don’t suppose any of them are “one shot” devices. 😕

Oh dear, I’ve ordered some the same for the job in question. Initially I fitted the earlier type, 1701583 but they failed the first time the machine was used. It could be the problems are caused by sagging heater coils, due to the mica support strips being broken. The dryer is right next to the washer and they are both used together. I suspect that when the heater is hot and the washer is on spin the mica strips get damaged by the vibration. I don’t like these new heaters, the whole setup is far too flimsy 🙁

ParticipantRe: Business for Sale
I wish you luck with trying to sell the business but if you don’t find a buyer, why landfill? Only people in your area would buy the business but this site covers the whole UK so you could more likely find someone to purchase the stock.

NTC stands for negative temperature coefficient, the temperature sensor which is built into the heating element. These don’t often go wrong but it is worthwile checking it plus the continuity of it’s wiring to the module. Could well be another module failure, which are quite common on these machines. Might be worth talking to the folk at EMW.

ParticipantRe: Stuck bearings…
I still regard bearing jobs as a “nice little earner”. I have sometimes had to change bearings twice on the same machine but the replacement ones generally seem to last as long as the original ones. I find these days I can’t afford to effectively turn away work by quoting high prices for tub replacements.

OK, sounds like a good deal if you still have them. I will send you a PM
