What’s wrong with the pattern ones anyway? I’ve fitted nothing else on all the Bosch machines I repair and never had any complaints. 😕

When you say you tried the pressure switch, what did you do? What you need to do is check for blockages in the pressure vessel, holes in the pressure switch hose and try blowing down the hose to listen for clicks from the switch. If you have a spare piece of hose you can try briefly running the machine with the pressure switch disconnected. You connect the spare hose to the switch, leaving the original hose connected to the vessel to avoid leaks. With the machine filling up you blow in the spare hose to see if it stops filling. Before you re-connect the pressure switch you need to put the machine on drain or pump to empty out any water in the pressure vessel. Extreme care is required because you need the machine powered up for this final functional part of the checks. If in doubt you should only do the checks that can be carried out with the mains plug out. :zap:

Just refuse to sign it. They are not in a position to turn down new business these days. You sometimes get asked to give bank references when you open an account with a new supplier. I’ve never provided these but the only firm to consequently refuse me credit terms was Crum & Sons (Qualtex).

I looked up the Hotpoint welded tub again today and it’s a good job I did. 😡 It is now showing as being in stock. I then checked the past invoices but they showed that the part had still not been sent out. I had deliberately not ordered anything else with the tub assembly because they would have sent the items that were in stock straight away and would not then send the tub until I placed a further order AFTER the part came into stock. I naturally assumed by ordering the part on its own it would be treated like a new order when the tub was available. This is not how they work though, they were treating it like any other back-order.
I rang them and they are going to send it out today. They asked if I need anything else. I said I do need a Creda fan oven element but will order it from Masterpart, who sell it for about half the price of Connect. 😆

Sounds like the pump or filter. Usually on Bosch machines you can see the pump impeller when you remove the filter cap. If there is a small diameter hose next to the cap you can pull out some slack and use it to drain the machine before removing the cap.

    Thanks Bryan,
I will write to the tenant, explaining that my contract is with her and giving her the opportunity to pay me direct and deduct it from her rent, as an alternative to escalating the matter to legal action.

I used to be an expert on carbon but not the sort for motor brushes unfortunately. When I worked at Dunlop I was in a lab that developed carbon carbon composites (carbon fibres in a carbon matrix).

Could well be a fault in the timer. New timers can be expensive but if you don’t use it anyway (like most people) you could get it bypassed. Try the repairs@ facility to find someone local who could do this. If not the timer it could be a faulty oven selector switch or a thermal overload cutout. Either way it should prove a cost effective repair.

I don’t think raw material prices have much bearing on what we pay for parts. A set of carbons probably only costs a few pence to manufacture.

I don’t think we have a phildom anyway, so it’s OK to ignore him 😆

You could consider a cooker with induction hob:

I ordered a Hotpoint welded tub assembly on 4th March and it’s still shown as out of stock. I would get it elsewhere but the Connect price is a lot cheaper than the others. Meanwhile, I have no machine myself as I lent mine to the customer when I found there would be a delay. 👿

Next time you replace a faulty heater hang onto the old (or new) NTC as a spare 😉
