The prize goes to Mike, for his winning suggestion of water dripping onto the motor. :worthy:

The inlet pipe that branches from both hot and cold to the dispenser had chafed on the spring and worn a tiny hole in itself.

Just need to source a replacement pipe now.

    Thanks everyone.

    Re: Oven not tripping RCD

Have you checked for correct wiring?

I went to a cooker the other month that was ‘playing up’, to find that one of the rings was below 1 meg and it hadn’t tripped the RCD.

The oven wasn’t working properly, was the reported fault.

Her ex- had installed it and connected the brown to the blue and the black to the red wires – see http://www.flickr.com/photos/pigpen4/5409598165/

I think she was very lucky!

    Thanks, Bazza.
Connect list 3 cables from that part number, all of which appear to be different lengths. Any idea which of them it will be, or doesn’t it matter?

    Thanks,
    Pigpen.

    Thanks, Gordy.
I’m pretty sure I checked it last time, but not for fine cracks, I didn’t.
I’ll give it a good looking at on Thursday.

    Mike.

Not whilst I was there, but it didn’t trip whilst I was there, either!

I’ll definitely have a close look for that, though, along with looking for chafed insulation.

Going again to see it on Thursday, so I’ll keep you posted.

    Thanks,
    Pigpen.

    Thanks, W-6.
At least it gives me something to go on.
I’ll begin by contacting Elica, I think.

Re: Dyson DC02 dumps on top of filter

Thanks, Happycak, I can see what’s happened, now.

The diabolo shaped bit at the bottom of the dust collection bin is missing – she must have banged it out into the bin at some point.

I’ve just spoken to her on the phone and she confirmed she’s in the habit of clouting it on the rim of her wheelie bin every time she empties it, so it must have gone to landfill at some point.

    Problem solved 🙂

    Cheers,
    Pigpen.

That part number has quite a few equivalents on MasterPart’s site, so I think I’ll probably have one in stock.

Are there any other clips or screws I need to be aware of before I can remove the panel?

The bottom right screw in the detergent dispenser compartment secures the front panel at the top, also.

I’ve just been to one with lights 1, 2 and 4 and dryer thermistor is open circuit.
Looks the same as a water element thermistor, but is it the same part number, please?

    Have you checked the timer?
Has the power been off, or has she been cleaning it and accidentally set it to auto?
You’ve probably checked already, but just in case!

    Thanks, Chaps.

I had seen the Diamond H reference a few times before, as I’ve been browsing this site, and until now it had made absolutely no sense at all to me!

Now, as I’ve progressed a little, and as you’ve pointed it out to me at the right moment, it makes sense – Yippee!

Been doing this for nearly a year, now, and I’m very thankful to all contributors of the many messages I’ve browsed and searched, as well as to those of you who’ve answered my many queries thus far.
One word sums it up – invaluable!
