colin…the spyder is awkward to get off as you have found…awkward when the bearings are worn but not broken!!! if the bearings are broken the bits make it really hard to get it off. this in tern indicates that the shaft is no good and the only cure is replacement which i think means a new drum complete with spyder…as above…££££££££££

colin, the measurement of diameter of the shaft is critical it can be 20mm or 22mm if memory serves me right so be very accurate.if however you find the shaft to be damaged in any way, ie, scored or rough to the touch send for a skip. i think the shaft and the inner spider is rivited to the steel drum so it would need a new drum complete with spyder..££££££££

jim, is this the model range with the spyder bolted to the back plate/tub edge with the star bolt heads? if so its as you say a tricky job just to get the spyder off and replaced in exactly the right place especially if it has that cute little spacer…not a diy job methinks.

unlikely the concrete stuff has caused the bearings to fail..they fail after long and faithfull service. there is lots of info on washer dryers to be had , some on this site..ie what to buy and of course the WHICH reports.

been to one for the 3rd time. neons flash as follows..
    on/off……time delay…..pre-crease care……alarm..
high heat no flash………post crease no flash.
c/d starts, drum rotates for about 1min. stops, reverses neons flash as above,. i’ve changed the heater stats and changed the front stat. no heat but tub turns. i’ve checked for loose connections, inspected board on the bottom right(from the front) no burnt tracks on either the board or plug in connections. customer needs dryer now so has given me this one to play with..is it likely to be the board? number 215008320.03.

sounds like a bad case of bearing failure..not a diy fix! as a guide price ex vat its about £75-£80 for a repair if only the bearings are replaced( if the old ones can be knocked out) or a lot more if the back half of the wash drum has to be replaced. advise…consider a new washer.

Re: Fan oven doesn’t heat, but element is OK

    i hate to say this….but i will…POWER OFF…get oven out.. get back off…
get oven in a stable position…BE CAREFULL NOW..power on,oven on, is fan working? then put meter across the element terminals. 240v = element fault. no volts supply fault. ONLY DO THIS TEST IF YOU ARE COMPETENT AND VERY AWARE OF THE DANGER OF DEATH… IT IS A LAST RESORT SO YOU CAN ELININATE THE ELEMENT AS THE FAULTY PART OR NOT!!!!!IF YOU DON’T FEEL THAT THE RISK IS WORTH IT..DON’T DO IT CALL A PROFFESSIONAL
    i told you i didn’t want to say this…SORRY MODERATORS 😳
