if you select any program on the d/w you should hear the drain pump running for about 2 mins…if you can get the drain hose into a bowl you should feel the hose vibrate as the drain pump drains off the last residual water…if a) you cant hear the pump working or b) the water trickles out then its a pump problem.

mozzy, if you get the pack panel off. you will need a 13mm sanner to release the mounting bolts on the motor and a pair of long nosed pliers(narrow points) to fiddle the exsiting brushes out and the new ones back in…if you are very patient and have a bit of time you should be ok to get the new brushes in. try it…sieze the opportunity to challenge your manual dexterity.

how old is w/m…how often do you use it?? if you’ve had it for a while and used it frequently…more than 3 to 4 times a week it could be the brushes, ..UNPLUG, back panel off. motor off, check length of brushes…should be about 3/4 inch long. trickey to get out and fiddly to get back in..take a real good look at the cut of the brushes when you get them out and insert them back the same way…you will know if you’ve got it right as when you turn the armature shaft there will not be a clicking sound.

unplug!!! 1) take top off to see if belt is on the pully wheel…if off take back panel off and replace.
2) if belt is on check plug into the motor..if ok it may be the motor brushes…..how long have you had the w/m? how often do you use it? because the longer and and the more often you use it the brushes wear down and then do not make contact with the motor armature. as a check select any wash program and see if tub turns without a load in..

UNPLUG!!!! take the top off if you have one, take the side panels off and you should be able to see the pump…do you need to look at the drain pump or the main circulation motor/pump?

i think under the “sale of goods act” the retailer has resposiblity for the goods sold. however hotpoint have the obligation to supply an appliance “fit for purpose” thus i should think that hotpoint have the resposibility under their commitment for repairs within the guarantee period. write or e-mail hotpoint or if you prefer call their customer service desk again and again until you get a fix.

baz it would be a great help if you could post which way the carbons are sloping. looking from the top, does the slope go down from left to right or from right down to left, also is the connecting tab straight out of the back or to one side of the brush carriage if so which side? i ask all of the above because when i have chased up new brushes i have found the best way is to take them into my supplier and match them up. i have never been able to order over the phone!! 😯

ParticipantRe: Is it a Bosch?
my mate gerry runs an official bosch repair service…he is driven to dispair when a customer rings in for a service call and gerry asks for the e-nr and fd number….often the customer says..there is no number…yes there is says gerry all bosch appliances have the e-nr and fd number stamped on the door of a d/w and a label on the door rim of a w/m with the numbers…i’ve been there when he gets such a call and the customer is absolutely adamment there is no numbers to be seen ANYWHERE!!!! the conversation turns into a battle of wills …gerry says there is a number…customer says there isn’t….gerry has to end this by saying …there is a number ..ring me back when you find it and we will be able to book an appointment. i haven’t been there when part 2 of the conversation takes place 🙂

on the aluminium heater housing there you will find the t/stats. one will have a small vertical plastic “peg” if you press it it should reset the t/stat..the t/stat will have two wires going to it. HOPE THE POWER IS OFF .

central button is mounted on a very flimsy bit of plastic. thus not repairable. get the long number begining with 85……….. and order a new one. oven out about a foor, support it with handy table .POWER OFF. top cover off and be prepared to have a flexible body and patience.
