skimming…has anyone , including the banks and other financial providers got any ideas or suggestions as to how to minimise this theft. from the above cases it doesn’t seem to matter haw vigilant you are some piece of s@@t will try to rob you of your hard and legally earned cash. i’ve read all the stuff about keeping your card secure and be vigilant, what else can we do?

Re: Blank Off The Hot To Avoid This Tragedy !!

graham, a very good warning given the supply of cold fill only machines. to be honest i am guilty in the past of not blanking off the hot water but recently i have always made sure it is blanked off. particularly if the hot supply is under the sink, a careless moment when the customer is stuffing things on the self can easily knock the supply on, also if there are children in the house and the supply is easily acssesible their little fingers can turn the supply on. for the cost of a blanker it’s peace of mind for me and more importantly the customer.

thanks to all the above, i feel as a one man band, plus backing singer i’m doing ok…i repair machines but when i get to a BER i offer to supply a replacement. customers like this service..i promise to deliver, instal and test, in house run through of facilities and take the old one away ( machine i mean), not the partner. customers like this very much. too often i’ve heard, customers saying…can’t bear to go to cu..ys, co..et etc as they are full of glib gits who only want to sell the appliance which will get them points or bonus and then sell the extended warranty. if there are any other guys who don’t offer a replacement…try it. it does work! 😀
as of now i think i’ll stay put! 8)

Re: Hotpoint WD420 stuck mid wash

get the drain hose, put it in a bucklet or bowl. lower than the bottom of the washtub. if the water trickles out there is a blockage somewhere between the sump tube off the bottom of the tub which leads to the drain pump. as a test of the drain pump itself select slow spin or drain cycle and the water should whoosh out. if it doesn’t then find the blockage by removing sump hose and work your way to the pump.
    hope this helps

customer rang today..prog 4 fine allthe way through no probs…prog 5 tripped out. suggested as the machine was family friend that if the wash results were satisfactory on prog4 they should run it until it finally dies. would i be right in thinking spares for this golden oldie are like hens teeth?
