    Re: SERVIS Dishwasher

The serial and model number are needed before any advice can be given as there are around 25/30 different models.

Perhaps a bit late on this but some Bellings are made by Beko including integrated and free standing and I’ve also come across some Italian ones. The way to tell a Beko is the serial no. which starts with ie. 09-12345-09 for year, serial, month.
Cheap and cheerful but the Beko is identical and cheaper.

£250 pa to my book keeper and all sorted. Saves me money every year that a computer programme can’t. Just taken my books to him and he only uses them to do calculations, not the donkey work and he’s a pro.
I prefer the ledgers too but I suppose it’s all down to how you are with computers.

One question is how long will the Askoll last before it needs replacing? You then have another call and if it’s fairly soon it wouldn’t look good. I would go for the new pump in the knowledge that I’ve done the best job possible and value for the customer.

Some door seals have the number moulded on them so maybe as a last resort see if that is the case.

    Re: I should cocoa!

I can estimate without the back off in many cases.
    bearings,modules,pumps,filters to name a few
28 years says I am right in the majority of diagnosis before dismantling so saving time and effort but I must be a bit of a charlatan for even contemplating such a thing but my head ain’t up my backside looking down on everyone else who doesn’t agree with me. (if that’s possible).
I also won’t let the customer decide whether I will repair a machine that is obviously going to give trouble in the near future, I will estimate for the complete repair unless it uneconomic or the machine is in a bad way ie. rusty.

    Re: I should cocoa!

Tell them it’s not in their or my interest to have it repaired. I would refuse to do the job because the machine is on it’s last legs and my view is they will be wasting their money.
I would take the call out or offer a new machine.

You read something bad about this trade every day on here, engineers without proper test equipment, engineers that steal customers property out of pumps and now engineers who would give estimates with out seeing the machine! I wonder how many of these “engineers” are members of trade assosiations? Or am i the odd one out?

I think you take many tongue in cheek comments too seriously.

Have you not got a digital thermometer? I wouldn’t dream of using a mechanical thermometer as I have known them to be 40 degrees out. £25 and sorted, works in dishwashers and washers too.

    Re: Bosch DW impellor jugs

Just went to fit one from Connect this morning and it was dead right out of the packet but I think it may be a return as the packet was opened. I’m getting quite a few on fairly new machines and Qualtex are about £4 cheaper than Connect 😛

    Hi Steve,
Tried that and all ok so it’s the timer.
I have several WM timers and these people are over 80 so don’t want to run the bill up. Are there any major differences between these timers with different codes and could I swap one in and all be well?
