Re: Smeg Mod 5 (or S)980x

    Help, driving me nuts.
Fitted a new selector switch which has 9 terminals, not 8. Like for like gives everything but grill, swopped 6 to 7 and got grill but no heat on fan oven but ok on conventional. Tried lots of swops but apart from blowing a few fuses the fan oven heat refuses to work. Any help most welcome.
    Thanks.

Definitely board. Common fault. Haven’t changed a Servis timer since 1998 when they went to dmpa modules.

Hi again. Have been told it is obsolete! Anyone know where I can get one?
    Thanks

    Exactly Chris
Why couldn’t Smeg get this. So unhelpful and insisted it was the other block.
    Thanks again

    Re: Washing Machine element tool

For years I have used a double ended right angle screwdriver which sits behind the plate and levers against the tub. It has the advantage of staying at a virtual right angle to the tub but also fits at the ends of the plate for extra leverage. Available at “good” tool shops but never seen one in a DIY shed.

    Hi Karen,
Customer service (ha ha) is 02087873111 and you may even get a reply but not many spares available as most if not all is sourced far far away. Needed a part for a 14 month old dishwasher, unavailable came the reply.

Pcb/programmer is the main culprit on these but dead y to change. Not sure if EMW can repair them.

Got mine today and it’s not flimsy. Bought one years ago for £7.99 so this is a real bargain

    Hi,
Have had 2 airlocks in the matrix and have just emptied it and never been back.
I have never had to just change the pump seal, have always changed complete pump as on other makes the seal can waer the shaft and I would imagine the pump bearings are on the way out too because of the leak, if it is from there. Easy to remove the pump, 5 minutes and check. Not worth the risk if it is.

Have a look underneath, the base comes off and everything is get at able????? NTC is a tiny stat clipped to the base of the tub but never had one fail. The drain pump is a sealed Plaset type but the cycling pump shaft seals often leak. I have also found that the softener is not always securely tightened to the tub and also the same for the matrix on the side.
Hope that’s enough to be going on with.

    Thanks for the replies.
Now it doesn’t fault, the drain pump operates continuously whichever program is selected. All I want to do is get it to fill so I can find the leak if not caused by the tablets and as no leak detector fitted am stumped as to why it should just drain.
