Re: Non Payment – National Lettings Franchise Chain

Well it’s taken four months of calls, emails and general hastle that I could do without. The final payment went in this morning and their debt has now been cleared. The agents in question were Northwood (northwooduk.com) The branch I dealt with were ok. Never particularly efficient at paying and I would put them on a stop after every 2-3 jobs until they paid up. They would pay, I would do 1 or 2 more jobs then they would pay etc etc In fact they were on a stop when the branch suddenly closed.

It was their attitude that annoyed me. Nothing to do with US, it was a franchise, WE’RE not legally responsible..blah blah blah. You will get paid when WE’RE ready to pay you etc etc.

Well, I know I’m going to have the last laugh. All the properties from the branch that closed have just been moved to another branch as at 1 December. I’ll give it to Christmas before they call. It’s going to be pleasure saying NO.

Felling better and may I wish all members of this forum a merry Christmas 🙂

Thanks for your reply Electrofix. I don’t have the board with me to check but it’s irrelevant now. I’ve got an electronics engineer friend who does the more difficult repairs for me is repairing the board has just come back to me to say one of the chips, and a couple of other components have also been fried as well. He thinks the board has had a big zap of power to it which is not obvious to the eye. Beyond economical repair…..another one for the scrap heap I’m afraid 🙁

Through constant calling and emailing I’ve eventually received payment for two of the three invoices. The third invoice, is with the Landlord and he pays the bills. That’s what they said, we asked you to do the work on behalf of the Landlord, not for us. You’ve guessed it, they cannot reveal his contact details due to data protection reasons.. I dispair sometimes.

Yes yes yes. I couldn’t agree more. Even had one yesterday. Mother was childminding at a job yesterday and even she was gobsmacked by the number of bags her daughter had… 100’s stuffed under the sink. What is it with plastic bags ?

    Annoying but also dangerous.

When you turn up at a customers house and they haven’t got a front door key. They then spend the next 3 minutes rushing around the house trying to find the keys. “Can I not come around the back?” “No that’s locked as well and I can’t find the keys.” was the answer.

One thought comes mind: “How are you going to get out of your house,in the middle of the night when there’s a fire?”

Re: Tecnik Oven – Unusually badly warped element

Got this done eventually. The first element I got was duff but all sorted now.

Nothing exciting other than an unusually warped element.

Not over heating etc.. just a warped.

It dropped down about 12cm.. all sorted now landfill

Thanks for the replies guys. I’ve been to cost it this morning and it looks like the inner part of the element has just been badly warped. T/stat seems ok. Will check TOC if it has one when I access the back when I get a new element. Model is TKC1285. 🙂

I know it’s a pain at times but I ALWAYS state my labour charge and ALWAYS state that even if the appliance is BER, what my minimum fee will be. It’s worked for me for years now and had a lot less hastle. Lost a few calls doing it but not bothered because I’ve get a lot less hastle. Big parts like drums or special order – take a non-refundable deposit 🙂 Been there, had my fingers burnt, and learnt a lot on here as well.

As funkyboogy said, count to 10, move on and have a beer or two tonight.

Thanks HotDog. I thought it was just me. At least the advice you were given was more realistic than that given to me. It doesn’t get away from the fact that it’s not the same seal that was originally fitted. !!!

As I said “Pants products and pants spares and even bigger pants excuses.” 🙂

Take it out and have a look. I went to a Bosch oven where the customer was replacing a fan element (quote “because it’s an easy job”) had managed to catch a wire on the back panel. When he eventually got the element out, ee only saw two wires and replaced the two wires. Live wire was still touching the back panel…. the rest is obvious, big bang, then CU tripped. In this case it blew the t/stat. Some customers really should not be touching anything electrical. !!!

Re: c00144134/C00262267 – Door seal fitting problems

After much valued and helpful communication with MP and Hotpoint. I was told by Hotpoint, it’s a build up of gunge behind the support pushing the drum forward and that it was caused by using liquid detergent. Not convinced by that argument. I purchased another seal from a different supplier so it didn’t have the same batch as the last one. It went on easier but did take a lot more than usual adjusting to get it to fit. Fastforward a couple of days. Call back from customer. Went out again, the drum catches the seal on full spin. Not a lot and only on some loads. Took seal off and noticed witness marks (rubbing in one place). On further inspection, the plastic tub has, obviously over time become very slightly oval – not completely round. Where as the drum has maintained it’s round shape.

However, that doesn’t change the fact that the old and new seal are different.

From the picture it’s very obvious that the lip on the new one is thicker and also has ridges that the older one does not.

There I feel better…off to work now.

Thanks guys. Landlord bought a new oven instead which he paid me to fit as well as my initial fee. Good news for me but not for the environment.

However, I think the supplies of Baumatic spares is still sparodic and a bit pricy. Hopefully it should settle down when Hoover pull their fingers out.
