    Re: A Great Loss

He will be missed by all and it is a great shock to here the news.

This is another reason I am retiring at the end of the year as none of us can tell how long we have left to enjoy life.

I will miss him at the meetings as he had a good sense of humour.

Check the door seal is not leaking and sealing correctly.

If the door seal is not sealing correctly then warm the seal to soften it and then leave the door closed as long as possible for it to take shape and seal correctly.

Re: Fridge Freezer John Lewis JLFFW2012

Your first point of contact should be John Lewis call in your nearest shop and see the customer service team and if you a nice to them I am sure they will help as it is only just past the warranty and John Lewis are exceptional on customer service.

The only other thing you can do is empty it and turn it off for 48 hours with the doors open to fully defrost it.

I would say the repairer just defrosted it and you may have a problem with the defrost system or the defrost drain may be blocking due to a faulty N.R.V. or defrost sensor not a DIY job.

This model is made by Electrolux / Zanussi

Most suppliers will not except a return but I have never found a Matag with this fault that a new PCB has not cured.

Re: Whirlpool to do a recall on Hotpoint dryers

I would be surprised if they are getting 4,500 mods done a day but even at that amount assuming it is a five day a week then it would take 4 years to complete the recall.

If they are managing this amount above the normal repair calls what was the engineers doing before as I cannot see how they can magic up so many engineers when there are a shortage of engineers in the trade.

If there is a new fault on door switches and creates another recall
Then even a company the size of Whirlpool could disappear.

Maybe the washing line will make a comeback or an engineer may go on Dragons Den with a new design.

I have been told it is a fault with the program chip and it is not repairable.

This was by a pcb refurb company.

    Iced up fan in freezer.

Empty the fridge and freezer and turn it off.

Leave the doors open and let it fully defrost for 48 Hours then when you turn it back on it should be back to normal after 2 to 4 hours.

It will need a new Jazz board.
The new one will come with the instructions how to program it.
If it does not except the code on the plate try 05 or 15

Re: At what point does one walk out on a job…..

I went to a built in oven fault once.
When I arrived the customer had the oven removed from the unit the top cover off the rear panel off and the control panel off.

He said when you turn it on at the mains the oven does not work.
I asked him if he had set the clock and he said why.

He checked no wires were touching any metal turned on the mains and set the clock and it worked.

I asked him if he knew how to put it together again and he said yes.

I charged him for the visit and he paid up and thanked me for calling and said if you have to call again for any of his other appliaces please don’t tell the wife.

I called back 6 Months later to fix the fridge and he had told his wife he was only able to repair cookers so she would have to call me to repair the fridge.

    I kept his secret 😉

I also went to a Beko Cooker fault that was nearly out of warranty but looked brand new.

The young woman said it had not worked since it was fitted but had not called for a repair as she did not want her new husband to know she could not cook.

It was only when her husband said he would phone Beko as they kept letting her down with no one visiting and it would soon be out of warranty that she phoned to book a visit.

She said now she has been married for over a year hopefully her cooking won’t put him off.
