ParticipantRe: Samsung RSA1WTMH1 Temp Display
The freezer temperature when you first turn it on will be showing a plus temperature.
This will keep going down until it reaches 0 degrees.
The temperature then shows minus temperatures so the display will increase.
e.g. Minus 1 Minus 2 until it reaches the set temperature e.g. Minus 18 , Minus 20.Bob

Most likely due to Moisture on the PCB.

ParticipantRe: Schreiber Freezer APP6403
Possibly damp or moisture on the control module.
Or the control module is faulty.
Sometimes the module can get moisture on them and short out and the freezer stops working.

ParticipantRe: Alternative to a van.
In the auto express test it was an all wheel drive not a true 4 wheel drive.
All wheel drive cars transfer the drive to the wheels with the most traction so if three wheels are spinning the drive is only on one wheel.
4 wheel drive you can lock the axels and diffs to get you out of trouble if you get stuck.
The down side is the vehicle wants to try to go in a strait line as all the wheels rotate at the same speed as the diffs are locked.
A lot of off road cars nowadays are AWD now and not true 4 X 4
Even some 4 X 4 now are controlled by electronics and do not match the older 4 X 4s as they are made for road use more than off road use.
I used to have an old shogun and have driven it through 3 foot deep snow in country lanes without getting stuck.
I have a new shogun now it is a much better drive on road, but I am sure it would not go through three foot of snow like the old one did but we have not had snow that bad to try it out yet.
If you use a van then a good set of snow socks will cope with most snow conditions in this country and are a cheep accessory to carry.
Back to the topic most new vans now drive as good as a car with a better view of the road so just get a van with a crew cab for family use and you can still claim as comercial use.

ParticipantRe: Alternative to a van.
AWD all wheel drive is completely different to 4 X4 four wheel drive as with true 4 X 4
You can lock the axles and diffs.
Tyres do make a big difference but with a 4 wheel drive with the axels and diff lock on it will still out perform a 2wd with winter tyres.
I have the transit sport and winter tyres are not available with the low profile wide tyres.
The wide tyres get me through most conditions and I have snow socks if I ever get stuck. So far I have never had to use the snow socks I have always kept going.
If the weather ever got to bad then I would use my 4 X 4 Shogun.
If the weather is bad even with 4 X 4 vehicles it do not help you get through if other road users get stuck and abandon there vehicle.

ParticipantRe: Caple Wine Cabinet (WI6222)
It’s just the same as a fridge only set to run at wine temperatures for red or white wine.
Most likely compressor or low on refrigerant.

ParticipantRe: Is it just me or is anyone else quiet?
Hi Andy
Yes Exeter is a bit to far for me as it would make it difficult to maintain the service I give in the Bristol Area.
Hope to See you in Feb

ParticipantRe: Is it just me or is anyone else quiet?
I am in Bristol and the work is just as busy as last year.
You can never tell in this trade I am busy this week but next week it could be dead.
Lucky enough I get very few slow weeks as I specialise in refrigeration and it is a big city with little competition for fridge repairs.

ParticipantRe: Whats the most annoying thing customers do?
I had a customer cancel a call saying she had cured the fault herself.
The fault was her American type fridge freezer was tripping the mains trip switch.
I asked how she had found the fault and cured the problem and she said we just plugged it in to another circuit that does not have a trip switch fitted.
I advised she had not cured the fault and if it trips the mains it is unsafe to use.
Her reply was well it’s working now and we do not need a visit.
I hope she has not cancelled her life insurance as she is still breathing and does not need it.

ParticipantRe: Beko CDA539FW FF fridge-freezing isn’t freezing/cooling
If the compressor was running for a few seconds then cutting out, the compressor is faulty and as it is an older appliance it is beyond economical repair.
