A Caple is normally worth repairing I would advise just to leave it turned off for 2 to 3 days and leave the doors open to see if it drys out.
If when you put it back on it still trips I would seach this site with the find me an engineer search and have an engineer check it.

Try your local ford agent and ask about there part exchange vans.
A friend of mine just bought a 2008 transit off the local Ford agent with 49600 miles before they sent It off to auction as it is over 3 years old, only vans up to three years old kept on the forecourt.
He paid £4300 plus vat he knows the salesman but he told him Ford only give £2500 for it in part exchange plus Vat.
It had 2 owners but full Ford service history it was overdue for a service by 4,500 miles
So he took it to his local garage and had it serviced and the only thing they found wrong with it was the disc pads needed changing and it looks like new.Worth a try.

I hope you charged a call out fee or at least a half price call out to cover your cost.
If you ordered the PCB and it is an older appliance I would at least want to charge the amount it has cost you even if you did not charge for your time,
If it is an older appliance you may not use the PCB and it ends up as a big loss on the job.
You should not be the one to loose out if you advised it is not a economical repair and the customer went ahead knowing you give a 3 months guarantee.
Still at least you have got shot of future problems with him.

If the PCB does not cure the problem then it will be the sensor as it is freezing evenly on the rear panel.
The sensor is foamed in and cannot be replaced.

It may not have defrosted itself in the freezer Empty the fridge and freezer and turn it off for 48 hours with the doors open.
When you turn it back on after about 2 to 4 hours it should be back to normal.
If the problem returns after a couple of weeks you have a problem with the auto defrost system.
You can also check to see if the fridge door is turning the light off in the fridge as this also turns on the fan.

I had a call a few days ago asking for a repair to a built in fridge freezer.
I advised him of my charges and he asked me if I could book a visit for 9.30am Friday.
He said he would text me the details address make & model etc.I had not received a text so phoned him today to see if he still wanted me to call.
He said yes and gave me the address, he then said he would meet me and let me in but he would have to shoot strait off.
I asked him if anybody would be in the property to pay and he went off on one saying you have not even looked at it yet and you are asking about payment.
I asked him to calm down and advised him most company’s now ask for payment upfront before even calling and I was only enquiring if somebody would be there to pay for the repair.
He still started shouting down the phone and complained about me asking for money.
I replied I will cancel the call and not to expect me and he can try to find someone else to repair it and I cut him off.
I know he will have a problem in my area as most independents in my area recommend me for fridge repairs and tell the customers that they no longer do fridge repairs.
If he phones the large agents or manufactures he will have to pay upfront.
If he is like that before you call what would he be like if it was ber or he had problems in the future with it.
I can do without customers like him and have already filled his visit slot and booking into late next week already.
It good when you work for yourself and do not have to take abuse from anyone this is the first customer I have had any problems with since 2006 so I suppose I can’t complain.
Still maybe he might get a few in my area that take the money and run without fixing the problem as I have had a few calls to customers who have had them and not been able to get them to call back.
I have also seen there reviews online it makes interesting reading.

If it is just collecting ice at the top and not evenly over the back the fault is most likely low on gas.
It would run colder as it would not be cold enough near the sensor to turn it off.
You will find if you touch the compressor at the back it will be running hot.

If you have tried the diagnostics then I would. Say the display PCB is faulty if the display has segments missing.
This was a common problem.
I have found sometimes it may also have a main PCB fault when the new display has been fitted.
The display lights up ok when replaced but the main PCB gives erratic running of the appliance.

You need to check first it is a display PCB as on this model it displays fault codes.
On the back of the fridge freezer it normally has a list of display codes and how to set self diagnostics.

You can Regas any fridge freezer as long as there are no internal leaks.
