You can do tests on bench, test from motor pins to frame, you don’t want anything lower than 3meg i’d imagine & as high as possible. Heater & motor would be the components that you would mostly have an earth fault on causing tripping.
Best to start testing at plug first, check lead/plug with it disconnected from filter/interference suppressor, go through appliance from there, checking each component:-
pump, heater, motor, filter, loom, valves etc..

Yeah sounds like its the selector switch you had to replace which has the thermostat piggy backed on behind it. It could be at fault if some of the contacts have blown or are not closing correctly. If appliance has been disconnected and rewired up again, check the terminal connection block is wired right with all links if any needed are tightened up correctly.

A dishwasher that has been heating when it should’nt is a dangerous thing to have in your kitchen. To be honest i’d refer it to the manufacturers, tell them how dangerous you feel it is & see if they would do it for free as a goodwill gesture.
Don’t tell them you worked on it or done tests or they will not even consider it. If you were to fit P.C.B yourself & something was to happen later, they would’nt entertain you claiming etc.

Agree with Andy, isolate appliance from mains, don’t leave switched on, get an Engineer to fit a new P.C.B.

Sounds like a poor connection somewhere, perhaps in the cable loom, on/off switch defective perhaps, poor plug connection, float switch faulty, the list is endless.
Power off of course if doing any work on an appliance.

Seal & drum don’t have enough clearance, if anything caught between drum & seal it will overheat causing smoking. If drum wobbles slightly because of large load for instance same happens causing friction burn of seal/bellow. Think theres a new seal which is not so close to drum, we’ve been fitting tub assembly & door seal u/g.

Only clean it with very fine abrasive, like emery paper for instance.

Maybe theres a blockage in the wash pump impellor causing poor water pressure during washing.

    Try reading the user manual.

Many many many people, hold in the start button to start it, it just needs to be pressed once!
If you press it too long it either pauses the programme or cancels it altogether.
Under the start button it says “Cancel hold in for 3 sec’s”, some misread this as to start you must hold in, where as you just press button once to start.

Yes, is’nt there a lock spring across the top of the cover of non return valve? It just needs taking off & access is granted.

Can you post a picture of it on here & someone will help you get it off.

Anti flood switch may be activated or faulty, is the hum coming from the drain pump running continuously per chance?

Re: John Lewis washing machine motor not working

Most likely brushes need replacing & armature cleaned. But again not certain as to whats at fault without testing it,check loom & plug connection to motor & board are tight on. Check drum turns o.k by hand & is not jammed.

Re: 2 wire hall sensor / Tachometer

Thats not a hall sensor its a tacho coil. The magnet on end of armature will produce an output from the coil, don’t think it’ll be any more than 5v though, normally in the milivolt range, best way to find out is connect a multimeter to it.

    Re: Beko oven 655s

When you say you replaced “switch” was it he thermostat you replaced? If an element has an earth fault on it, it can trip the electrics. There isn’t a tripswitch that can be reset, but on some there is an overtemperature cut-out that needs replaced if its gone open circuit. Best perhaps to have it checked by a service engineer to be sure.
