Hi martin, i did have a shop but due to illness gave it up so have built a workshop at the back of my house to be honest it was a relief giving up a shop that was just draining anway i get plenty of repairs and spend most of time out working on road, i keep all overheads to a bare min and its working quiet well this way iv been their and got the t-shirt with paying stacks of bills and taking nothing home some weeks.

its more of a case of count the pennys and the pounds seems to look after themselves more of a spreading my wings iv started to recondition and do sell the odd new appliance as well,

iv had similar tel calls were the customer has said they can obtain spares cheeper its just plain barmy i know, i have had local enquires for spares from people close by so i do agree with what your saying about the time and effert i suppose the gain would be more content on my site that makes things look a bit better maybe? and reinforces that i sell spares,

    Re: Hotpoint WM51

just thought id finish the post turns out was faulty armateur not tacho as fitted the suspected armateur to a known good hotpoint motor and machine again bouncing about on spin.

    Re: Hotpoint WM51

No have seen that before jim with fhp motors was orange sticker GEC motor, im taking the amature out of the old motor now removed to fit into another GEC motor with a worn amature this will confirm its not a fault amature for future reference although its now ramping more gradule before and correcting out of balance so guess it was tacho problem as stated probably wiring.

iv started to buy in and recondition wm/creda machines as did at first try any make and model but found these to be by trial and error more successful callbacks seem far and few between as well so in end decided to just stick to hotpoint wm range as parts very interchangble is a big help, i thought id have more success with wma but for 1 reasons or another dident work out, pitty really as quiet good looking machines to sell.

dont you just love customers ! 😈

“She then told me that someone else had the machine out before and put it back no problem.” a cheeky reply may have been the other enginer was probably much better at his job that i, addressing whats the covert message behind the statement.

id say the most important part for sure is the repair was completed ok, most sensible people know that were not kitchen fitters as well, i think showing the customer a good fair attempt and a little sweat proves care and consern has been made. an hour far exceeds this for sure.
theres just no pleasing some people.

or whats behind this one “How long have you been doing this job?” normally comes with a very starring customer watching every movement you make, take more that 2 seconds to find the spanner in the toolbox, normally gets, “are you having trouble there?” .

in answer to how long i say ” first day out on job!” and would you believe your my first customer, watch their face :rolling:

    Re: Hotpoint WM51

original motor for wm51 and timer, not checked pressure vessel 😳 suspension is perfect allround will have a good look at tacho wiring as well it did occur to me as tach fault as out of balance is haywire but just picking at straws when clueless.

hey thanks steve im gona have another shot at it tommorrow, in fact if it turns out to be pressure problem it wont be the first time iv removed a washer to workshop for repair just to blow down the pipe 😳
