    Re: relay supplier

Top tip mike ill remeber that one about testing relays all easy when you know how, on the subject does anyone know if those large block type resistors can be ordered from i think without going to fetch a board there 7.2k large block type off service boards that when go open circuit cause no drum action faults, iv seen a few newer type service modules as well as the older type with the same open resistor fault, that sit in parallel.

Re: Bearing Shell Removal Tool – Now Available

has anyone used this with positive results as im considering ordering one, i work from the back of my house and the noise to remove hotpoint wm’s and wma’s is a bit over the mark for the neighbours as it does take some time to drive the little buggers out! anyone used them for hotpoints with success? are they better than hotpoint red kit for left outershell, and on the subject iv never tryed heat? i take it use a blow torch to apply head to the housing first? any other tips much appriciated as i have a stack of hotpoints to work through in next few weeks, seems quiet reasonably priced kit by the looks of it

Re: How Can I Run a Brilliant White Goods Business?

Good tips for someone coming into self employment and maybe even to some already in the trade.

id like to add the #8 call divert to mobile used to be very expensive i could run up a large horrible phone bill easy, now since january iv joined 1 plan with BT, and each call has a capped rate of approx 20 or 30p? which is well worth it if your working as a mobile engineer, its taking the call and booking in the customer straight away, iv tryed other methods ie. call screener and after finishing word went through each call, some of them have already phoned and got someone else to do the job instead, also another dissadvantage to be aware of is the length of time to connect, when a customer calls a landline most expect to get through straight away instead of a time lapse, iv had customers tell me they struggle to get through?

also placing STICKERS on machines after every repair is a must, every day i go back to machines iv repaired with stickers on its a1 for repeat custom.

Re: There Go I For The Grace Of God

Sorry to hear about your customer from hell sqadman reading it just raised my blood pressure, i does make me thing though as iv had my fair share of difficult customers, is it the avoidance of payment of money? or more the customer gets a bee in ther bonnet about something and their starting to play games? ie. (IV GOT U! you son of a bi**ch, DOCUMENTED GAME)she feels that she’s paid twice for the same job (discounting the obvious fact of a 4 years!), then feels disrespected, ripped off and then next feels justified in causing mayhem and starts to pull all the dirty tricks in the book, the reason this post has caught my attention is i read a book by eric burn called “The games people play”(dont askme why it just caught my attention in the library! 😆 ) in the book it as all the phycology and insight into the dinamics of why these types of situations develop and exsist in the first place, both party’s feeling pi**ed off and a no win situation sort of checkmate. i do think after saying all that some times even empathy and seeing things from the customers side still wont work and even a healthy compromise wont do the trick and there just plain bellhent on doing their worst,

good luck with the legal course of action, 4 years is a long time, most people with common sense realise this is way out of any warranty

yes your right about keeping a test meter for capacitors its frustrating and it makes all the difference at times, i changed both board and cap in end and running fine now.

i need an auto ranging test meter that powers down if left on, as well as a torch that does the same, one that can bounce as well and also water proof and leads that can withstand being wrapped around the rest of my tools if it makes plenty of beeping noises the customers like them sort, maybe have a high voltage stun feature to disarm annoying customers wouldent go a miss, 😆
“oh you want to know how long iv been doing this job?”, just come here and hold my meggar test leads while i have a think!”, the best answer has got to be for this one is “its my first day” :rolls:

    Re: bosch electrical smell

this rings a bell of a bosch i changed the carbons on a few years back, afterwards a smell that i dident feel at all safe with, once i took machine back to workshop i took motor apart and realised one of the brushes was sticking in holder and not free, once free worked ok.

i did find i needed to run the machine for quiet a few washer until brushed bedded in then motor smell dissapeared.

i only use gen carbons on these motors now

Re: Conversion of intergrated to freestanding.

never thought of that one, so the machine would have to be close to front for the draw to extend out past unit, which in turn leaves no access for placing hinges on side of cabinet,

something says this ones not going to work!, its actually not the best looking of kitchens quiet scruffy looking the agents never even seen the place as based in london, its empty at the moment with no tennant i bet if i left the door off no one would even know 😆 😆 although id have to dispose of the door and that might be a bit too naughty :rolls:

also will add with wma’s with any repair to always sling it back and check wiring for rubbing next to weight, its no surprise to find a nasty looking bunch of wires that have been mashed and some shorted together.
