Same problems here, takes ages to load & that’s with a reasonably fast connection.

That stuff works like a dream, allways got a pack in my spares kit. They sell similar stuff under the JML brand in Wilkies as well at about the same price.

Saw my first Yellow Pratt mobile down here today, God they look worse in real life than they do in the pictures.

Hi Twicknix: Thanks for that, I was told the Licence was a lot more than that. Will have to look into it again.

ParticipantRe: AEG Competence Oven B4101-4 Cutting Out
Hi Marmot: Unfortunately the only way you can really tell if the part is actually gone, is as Martin said by use of a Multimeter to check continuity through it. Other than this it’s replace the part on the off chance or call out a repair engineer, if you can borrow a meter from someone or buy a cheap meter from your Local Maplin store then 1 of us will be able to tell you how to check the part.

Could have but I don’t have a Licence for re-cycling, or anywhere to put them. I work from home.

Don’t even bother with Council estates, they’d rather buy on the never never than have something repaired. Did a leaflet drop on a small local council estate a few weeks back, drove through there earlier & see 5 houses with appliances outside waiting for the scrap man. Not 1 repair enquiry from the whole estate though.

Ah right, I never actually looked into the Limited scope side of things. Whole thing is a load of rubbish from start to finish, does’nt stop anyone messing with Electrics just means more do under the counter / cash in hand work & from what i’ve seen certainly does’nt stop any of the butchery.

Why cant they change the board ? But your right about Part P, a lot of my friends in the Trade won’t even bother with Domestic anymore. They see Part P as an insult and lets not even get going on the other Farce, 5 Day Domestic Installer courses.

ParticipantRe: Approved Electrical Connections
Hi Squadman: Maybe mistake was the wrong way of putting it, what I was trying to get across was that I did’nt think that in any were you trying to cause the customer any inconvenience. If I caused any offence to you in doing that, then I can only appologise & say that it was’nt intentional.

I seriously doubt that was ever Squadies intention to be honest, maybe he just made an honest mistake or did’nt think the local Hotpoint Engineer would use it to wriggle out of doing a repair. Only he will know what happened & any of us taking a pop at him does’nt help.

ParticipantRe: Approved Electrical Connections
Hi Martin: Sorry we were both posting at the same time, not my words mate. It’s just 1 of the excuses Hotpoint engineers roll out to avoid doing a repair.

ParticipantRe: Approved Electrical Connections
Think might / might not is the answer Martin, an old neighbour has a Hoptoint washing machine in her fitted kitchen that went faulty under warranty. The engineer that came out refused to work on the appliance as the plug had been removed & the mains lead fed through the worktop Directly into a switched fused spur & this is’nt Hotpoints approved connection method. I think at the end of the day it comes down to the individual engineer & what sort of day he’s had.
