I see they’ve got a little Antex thing which works off 3 AA’s. maplin
Looks a bit cheap quality from the pic but if it wil do even 10 joints on a charge that would be OK.
    Mike.

No good to us mate, apparently only 6 watts. Also checked out the cold heat irons, they reckon you get approx 700 joints on 1 set of batteries.
Downside to this is they can kill Electronic components like ICs quite easily so not really much cop again.

Unfortunately that’s not re-chargeable so could get a bit pricey on Alkalines if you use regularly. Got to be fair I bought an Iroda gas iron from Maplins a while back & not had any problems with that 1, variable output from 20-60 watts so can be useful for wiring repairs on the car etc.
But I allways carry a 30 watt mains iron as well just in case I forget to buy gas. 🙂

You really need to unsolder 1 side of each resistor to get an accurate reading, you don’t know whats connected in parallel to them.
But going on what you said they aren’t open circuit.

2 Large white Ceramic resistors to left of Aluminium heatsink.
Values are printed on them, use a multimeter to check resistance of both.

Hiya Mike: Have you got the Farnell part number for these or the number off the component ?

    Thanks: Andy 8)

Hi Stu: The old connector is normally a spade that fits to the Earth tag, you need to cut this off & crimp on a Ring terminal instead, this is then fitted under the Element fixing.
It has been said that you can cut the wire back & tape it off, this is wrong it’s there for your safety and MUST be re-fitted.
Crimp connectors should be available from your local, Car parts or DIY shop.

Hiya: No your not prattling, that’s good info. you only gave readings for 3 elements, but going on your readings then the elements are open circuit.. as well, they should read in Ohms not Megohms. Can you check that for me again just to make sure you are definately across the ends of each element.
Just checked my manual for this machine & it only lists 2 Elements fitted, 1 x 1100 watt should be roughly 50 ohms & 1 x 1400 watts should be roughly 42 ohms.

By the way the Fluke 110 is an excellent meter, got one on my workbench. Hope you don’t mind me asking but what do you do ❓

Would be interested to know how you got the readings you gave on a Fluke 110 ? 😕 The resistance range only goes up to 40 Megohms.

Re: problem with a indesit d41

Could well be a problem with the Electronics, the solenoid should only be powered during the part of the cycle where the dispenser should open.
If it’s powered constantly then it will eventually burn out causing the problem you had originally.

Time to call an Engineer Methinks.

Theyr’e pretty good quick heat up time & about 50-60 normal joints on 1 set batts, or the rechargeable ones are pretty good for board work. Had 1 of these for years when I was doing on site Electronic repairs.

Hi: No problem, forgot to mention in my reply it’s preferable to have a Multimeter with a minimum resistance range of 40 Megohms.
Please let us know what happens.

Re: problem with a indesit d41

The reason for it not having the noise was probably that the solenoid coil was open circuit & that’s why it wouldn’t open the door.

Re: problem with a indesit d41

Did you replace the dispenser complete with solenoid? it sounds from your description that the original solenoid was faulty, possibly due to being powered constantly.
If this is the case, afraid it’s time for an Engineer to check the machine, unfortunately the Electronics on Indesit machines are not the best.

PLEASE REMEMBER POWER OFF & PLUG OUT BEFORE OPENING.
i.e YOU SHOULD NOT BE LIVE TESTING. 😯 😯

For an Engineer in your area please see the repairs@ link.
