Re: hotpoint rfa52p thats too cold on #1

I dug out the insulation at the back of a scrap one to try and fit the phial end by screws which I did just for a beer fridge in the garage, the tube down to the evaporator for the thermostat phial is a plastic tube and only changes to metal for the last 3 or 4 inches and the metal tube/phial sensor housing is only taped by metal type gaffer tape to the evaporator. 🙁
    Total tish!

It’s the actual back plastic panel of the fridge, it bows away from the insulation and is clearly loose when pressed.
Audible whooshing is no indication of good operation and can sometimes especially with r600a be louder when refrigerant is low so gauges are essential to test the the charge.
The phial is the thermostat sensor and feeds down a tube which is fastened within the insulated back wall of the fridge to the evaporator, sadly often parts company with the evaporator so thermostat cant pick up temp drop and fridge runs continuously, not really a fix for this.
Thermostats have a wide differential so won’t kick in if you switch them off manually until they reach temp for normal switch back on,possibly 7’8c.
There would be no doubt if it is running continuously it would freeze almost everything, likely to be loss of refrigerant imo and if you can’t find the leak to repair not worth the fix.
Wasteful but thats the quality of stuff now.

You need to fit gauges to check suction pressure, could be an under charge/leak or the thermostat phial connector can come away from the back panel.
Is the back panel loose when touched?.
If it was correctly charged and compressor running OK but running constantly it would freeze the food,if it isn’t freezing food it’s one of the above problems.

Should be two vents flow and return, can’t remember exactly but return is lower down and is possibly iced up,some times down behind evaporator.

Ordered genuine 6224745 fan oven elements and rec’d them with no part number at all and not bagged absolutely no id on them ,not sure if they are genuine or not. They told me that Hotpoint genuine are IRCA but these are EGO make 😕 😕 .
They offered to take them back but haven’t fully answered my questions re the parts.
I know all manufactures fluctuate from one supplier to another but would have though some defining ID would be on the part.

Had a dishwasher this week SDW 60 hotpoint slimline which had a seized wash pump so the water was boiling in the tube heater and bubbling up when it should have been circulating.

I doubt anyone local will get any work unless the volume is too great for Central Networks contractors.
I along with 8 other houses suffered from a power surge some 3 months ago. central Networks were pretty good although they never admit liability and say all their repair work is “a gesture of goodwill”.
A company called Haste Ltd (Hinckeley way I think)came along to check out all wiring and appliances etc.I had surge protectors fitted to lectroninis but it took out all the transformers for the fax, computer,it took Sky box, fried the electronis in a fridge freezer and dishwasher with smoke etc (4 weeks old),also my boiler, quite a mess really.Although I wasn’t happy about having the dishwasher repaired so they sent Hotpoint who changed the board etc.
The same guy who repaired my neighbours boiler came and fixed my fridge freezer which both had electronics faults,I did speak to Central Networks, they said all guys were qualified but they couldn’t tell me what qualifications they held. 8O.Couldn’t fault any of the lads, bar one,who worked for them though.
To be fair the guy was a bit of a whizz with the boards so I didn’t take it any further as I wasn’t getting anywhere and just getting wound up.
Apparently the company was formed by a domestic appliance retailer after spotting the opportunity, stops insurance companies and Central Networks getting inflated charges,I believe they are on so much per property to clear the faults.

If the “black dome” was making a noise as long as it is a continuous noise and not a clicking trying to start then thats the compressor running.
The fan next to it would normally be running,is the black radiator looking device (condenser) next to the fan hot to touch ? if not you have some sort of system fault maybe a loss of gas and would need an engineer, not a diy job.
