Obviously an electrical short.could be motor or defrost element.
You will need an engineer with a meter (meggar) to isolate/identify the component responsible,Re: Hotpoint RLAV21 stat fitting?
Think they are all fairly easy,probably wont make much difference either stat as evap temps will be same/similar

“The Fridge” sounds like a frost free type.
Fans dont start until evaporator temp is aroun -12ish so no cold air blown around freezer or fridge until that is acheived,could be 15 minutes depending on room etc.
Model numbers etc are helpful.

I just walked out the door,brainless doesn’t come close.
The same guy cleaned his range cooker a few years ago with a pressure washer and then rang me and said it’s gone bang.

You mostly get what you pay for,Bosch,Brandt and electrolux brands.

If there is a noise when the compressor shuts down either banging or shuderring it usually spells the end of the motor.its probably now although partially working not able to freeze efficiently.
10 years isn’t bad for a Hoover (candy) which is one of the cheaper built machins.

Scrapped,though I’d rescue the compressor and associated parts.
It’s a VHP compressor,very high back pressure probably 1.5 to 4.5 bar depending on temps,hopefully will be re cycled into a greenhouse heater for winter!Re: Commercial freezer condenser

VAT especially is a tax collected almost entirely at source with virtually no cost,as far as I know to the govenment,we do all the calculating.
Has anyone ever calculated for say every £1000.00 vat payment, what it costs the business in terms of staff wages.heating and other equipment to submiy our return with the payment.
