ParticipantRe: Bad Integrated Appliance Installation
What about snooty Customers then, had one week for last, Big House and Very Affluent, 2 Big Mercedes sitting on the driveway. Anyway get in the Kitchen to look at built in dishwasher, whilst I am starting to get tools out to start the removal, bombastic woman enters the Kitchen and starts shouting and abusing cleaner lady for no real reason other than being a complete Ars***** !
Bombastic Woman looks at me as if I am dirt then storms out the kitchen effing ! Mm Me thinks ? I then looks at the cleaner lady and I tell her I would not put up with that kind of attitude and that if she comes back and starts that with me i will put her right.
No sooner had I spoke the bombastic female returns to the kitchen and then starts verbally ordering me about and telling me whats, what.
Without saying a word I start packing the tools up and gathering my paperwork, What you doing she says ! I looked at her and said I am not employed by you and never will be, your help over there may have to put up with your shitty attitude but I don’t have to, So I don’t want your job get someone else to sort your problem out and I don;t mean the dishwasher Problem ! I am a professional tradesman and will not put up with you trying to treat me like one of your servants !
Well the woman stands there just looking at me, speechless she was, the cleaner lady had a real gleam in her eye and had probably wanted to tell the idiot where to go months back, Anyway out the door I go and into the Van, quick call to the office and explain the woman’s a cow and I will not be returning there anytime soon. After my call the woman had gathered her wits and was on the phone kicking off about me big time !!!!
She was then advised more or less the same as I told her and was sent off with a flea in her ear !
Lesson for the day, Never P*** off the dishwasher repairman when you have pots and pans to get washed !

ParticipantRe: Bad Integrated Appliance Installation
In all the years I have been in this trade I can safely say that out of all the installations I can count the best ones on both hands ! The rest are complete abortions mostly fitted by well know kitchen companies who seem to major on the modus operandi of welding up the car bonnet as it will never require service or repair.
As we all know we are Domestic Appliance Engineers not kitchen fitters and in the cases where the appliance cannot be removed within a reasonable timeframe and or without causing damage I just explain that its not for me to take the kitchen apart to get it out and to ring us when its out. I have seen so many kitchens damaged by either the customers trying to remove them or kitchen companies returning to remove them. Customers normally try to bamboozle you into taking responsibility for removal and refitting as you have taken on the repair but a lot of the time its far easier and cost effective to walk away.

Implied or Not the use of another companies logo could land you in difficulties, when we had this issue it was Yell that placed the logos in our advertising, now whilst we were obviously saying that we repaired white goods the logos where placed for informational purpose so the reader could see that we covered service on various brands, no where in that advertising did it say or imply that we were authorised by any of the manufacturers who’s logo’s were on display. In the case of a van surely that is the same, if Ken had a vehicle sign written that he was a white goods service provider and then emblazoned that vehicle with brand logos its the same as the advert Yell put up for us and which brought that enquiry and threat of legal action !
It seems to me that with hundreds of companies across this land using another brands logo without permission of the legal owner its a game of russian roulette as to if the owner sees your advertising and then considers it to be copyright infringement or commercially detrimental to their trading position, if they do then as Ken has said your a duck in open season.

Thats interesting Martin, roughly two years back we had some logos on a Yell Ad, not long after we got a call from one of the Manufacturers, Indesit who starting asking pointed questions about dealerships and copyright !
As far as I am aware a Trade Logo belongs to the person who owns it, like the Bosch, Hoover, Zanussi Logos, how then can it all be kosher ?

ParticipantRe: Passing Off
Out of interest not only is this company conflicting your companies identity but what about the other companies logos that are being used on the front page of this website ? This looks as if he is authorised by the companies in question ?
or has this chap just lifted their identities too ?No doubt Yell’s legal department have checked if they are allowed to use these logos ?

Both devices are in my view a waste of money, EMW all the way without all the hassle involved with Readers, Cards and all that.

I dont see why he should refund anything ? whats the basis for a refund other than to possibly show goodwill to retain the customer. The fact that this has been not days, weeks but months the man has earned his labour charge as not only did he diagnose the fault, raised a quotation for repairs but also got the old dear out of trouble so she could use this appliance.
I say keep the money and let her do her worst ! lol

ParticipantRe: customer wants part numbers
On the face of this I would have said that the customer paid for your diagnostic skills and you have advised her of both the costs and nature of the parts required. I cannot see that you are under any obligation to supply any further information vis Part Numbers let alone a refund as you have completed your side of the contract, As has been suggested pass on the 50******** numbers listed at Connect and if they come back to you after trying to obtain the parts elsewhere you only have to say that you can order these parts only by that number, what makes you curse is that if they did have these parts are they actually competent to fit them and if they did fit them and there were then other problems of a man made nature they sound like the kind of folks that will be back at your door demanding anything and everything as the machine is still not working properly and of course it will be your fault !

ParticipantRe: masterpart ebay shop
The trade will buy more from a Supplier than one off customers and over long periods of time. If we all were to start buying via the routes being talked about then the trade buyers like everyone here would not need to buy from the supplier the end result obvious I think !
So Masterpart should respond to the points raised and clear this situation up once and for all silence is detrimental to the relationship trade buyers have with such suppliers, personally I think this is a short sighted way to deal with us

ParticipantRe: Safety testing. Do you think this is over the top?
Recently when I raised the subject of a Indesit/Hotpoint engineer failing to spot a appliance with NO earth connected, a plug which was wired in a dangerous fashion and the fact that he has missed these items along with a few others a debate got started about Manufacturers Engineer’s versus Independents. Any competent engineer should be performing safety checks as a matter of course !

ParticipantRe: Handepay Merchant Services
Well after nearly two months of being with Handipay we are making savings which our previous provider could not match, now i am considering moving banks to pretty much free banking with interest being paid on credit balances which will save me shedloads, it pays to look at your banking and merchant services from time to time as like me i found myself to be too busy or have the bother of changing which of course a lot of these institutions rely upon .
