Re: The General Maintenance Co ?

I had already found that info out earlier, but even so I cannot see the point of taking several photos of any repair and even if we did, how the devil would they know what they were looking at !

Everything taken into consideration we wont be doing it unless they pay up front but somehow I doubt they will want to do that

The condenser dryers take more time but once you do a few you get the flow of it. I use the belt tool as well and its a doddle

    Gas Safe & Proud

Ah Cost, that’ll be it then, the upshot is that needless to say the appliance could not be repaired as it requires removal and now the gas engineer has been booked to come and remove the pipe so as to allow the removal of the appliance for which he is charging for!
I am having some trouble following the cost aspect. I have advised the customer that if the gas engineer is going to remove the pipe and then the dishwasher is repaired with him returning to put that pipe back where it is . That they get someone else to repair the dishwasher as in the event the dishwasher were to exhibit any future problems you just know the customer is gonna want the person who made the repairs to the dishwasher to foot the bill of the gas pipe issues.

Thankfully we won’t be going back to this one I don’t need the bother of someone else’s problems.

    Re: Genuine part numbers CONNECT

We have for a number of years not been able to view genuine part numbers from connect they have always been 503-504 type numbers, however recently these were replaced with odd numbers like 10005C
Of course the later ties up with nothing anywhere else and having spoken to another connect customer it appears these numbers can be applied account by account. Helpful ? No ! I have spoken to them regarding this and now we are getting the 5 prefix codes again. Our rep didn’t seem to know anything about this but it seems a practice designed in their own interests but we all need to be vigilant as regards pricing of spares

    Re: Indesit bought

When I worked at Philips it was a great place to work, Proper service environment, my team of engineers numbered 14 all hardworking experienced engineers who knew what they were doing, plenty of training over at Croydon. Then arrived Whirlpool, at first apart from the van livery there was little evidence that things had changed. Two years down the road it was a different story, Daily Job Numbers up ! Bigger areas to cover! Call Center staff who saw the engineers as lackeys and Management who had the view that if you cant do the job then I will get someone who will ! Then the flexy hours started, as Whirlpool could not get us to do these hours they recruited Ex Army and ( trained ) them, Orders are Orders,

As time went on the next step was to franchise service partners, engineers sacked, 48 Hour service Pledge that was not, reel forward to the shambles that was left and hour it is now and I will not be at all surprised to see this is how it will go with this new lot.

Or Not ! Philips used to build decent appliances back in the day, then Whirlpool arrived and it started to go downhill, Who knows how this will pan out but I reckon it will be good for us Indies

Always wondered what the mains tester was used for 😉 and now it looks like I need to have a mate on hand. I also liked the way they cut the video with refitting the rear spring would have loved to hear them cursing and the omission when the air duct clip was refitted !
