Re: WMS38 (Hotpoint) – Blocked powder downpipe?

t sounds like a blockage in the hose take the lid off and then take the hose off, or remove the outer lip of the door seal and take the end of the hose off the drum, its posssibly blocked with soap powder or a foreign object.
    plug out of course,

and while you are at it see if it has a filter behind the plastic kickplate take it out and clean it.

i think its the heater you could try disconnecting it to see if it makes a difference.

i assume reading out of range means there was a short somewhere,
you cant check a door interlock for shorting.but a heater can give a different reading when in water.

    Re: Washing machine help.

its not a capacitor its a suppresor, you will have blown the triac on the pcb, if you look at the main pcb you will see a blown triac its more obviuos if its the 3 legged variety less obvious if its surface mounted.
i would say plug out first but you must be lucky not to have electrocuted yourself the first time round.

    Re: Zanussi Washing Machine module

trace the wires back from the burnt component will tell you what has blown it. normally heater, door lock or motor.
you should have found out what had blown the original board before putting in a new one.
    plug out of course.
