ParticipantRe: Hotpoint, arrrgggghhhh!! What are my options??
It doesn’t matter what manufacturer you work for, they are a REPAIR company not a replacement company.
I also work for a major maufacturer (luckily they are better than Merloni) and we again are often told by customers “D+G said they will replace it if you say so”.
This is quite frankly crap, all we can do is give an estimate. It is then D+G (or whoever) that decide if it is BER.
I agree with Hotpnt, you are being fobbed off.

S.
I’ve never noticed any blown tracks before TBH. But there is a triac on the board that controls the door lock/release I believe. You may be able to ID and replace it I suppose
I don’t get involved with board repairs, so it would be new interlock, door boot and board for me.
Nice little earner for you if she goes for it though 😉

Customer HAD to register for 10 year warranty.
By the sounds of it the top power module will need replacing….
Not cheap.

ParticipantRe: What No Toolbox ?
There is a company up here who I’ve come across a few times, that sent an engineer to look at a Bosch w/d.
He turned up at the door with no tool box then asked the customer if he could borrow a screwdriver 😯 .
Needless to say he was sent packing 😉

ParticipantRe: Bosch integrated larder fridge temp problem
Sounds to me as though the door is not closing the door s/w properly.
Quite common on integrated fridges, as “expert” kitchen fitters have a habit of not securing appliances properly in their housing. Consequently they gradually move backwards and eventually the the door seal does not make thus letting warm damp air in.
Hence you find condensation on shelves etc. Would also explain the warm top shelf as light also gives off heat if it’s not turned off by the s/w.

Just try turning it to fan setting or grill, if the cooling fan runs and nothing else I’m willing to bet you the selector s/w is goosed 8)

Reason I say this is I had one once where the magnet had vanished so nothing would work.
JohnThese “professional” oven cleners, have a nasty habit of stripping the doors and mis-placing said magnet :rolls:
This one though, AFAIK doesn’t have the reed s/w. Check the selector s/w carefully, if all you get is the cooling fan when switching on then I’m 99{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} certain thats your fault 😉

ParticipantRe: Second hand oven, earth in the cable is black – confused
They don’t come with a lead fitted.
It will need new cable, size will depend on KW rating of appliance.
Will need to be meggered and have earth checked.
I would urge you to contact a professional , as you have no idea what has been done to it, if it has been on display elements may have been disconnected and will obviously require re-connecting.
