Re: Help! New Siemens machine won’t work

I assume the door is fully closed yes. When you press start do you hear a click from the door area.

Are there any cracks around the door frame particularly near the hinge. Also check the door hook for damage.

Is the inlet hose kinked at all ❓

I would still guess at a flooded base. As I said there are many things on the m/c which may leak 😥 .

Why not try getting the engineer back again to have another look.

If you decide to investigate yourself :zap: pull the plug first :zap:

    Probably a flooded base.

    Re: Bosch SHV4313GB/17 leak!

water in base takes out motor

That is very, very unusal. I have never had that happen 😕 . First time for everything though I suppose.

so any other place to look

The easiest to check is make sure that bottom spray arm is correctly clipped together and that bottom door seal has not wrinkled and come away.
Motor seals have been known to leak, if you remove motor and impellor it will be obvious if this is the case.

Also worth checking heater and inlet valve for leaks.

The worst to find is pin hole in tank due to salt. remove filters and check around the recess where it sits and behind feeder tube to top spray arms.

Plenty to be going on with eh 😆

Im sure 24 hours is sufficient for a defrost on this domestic appliance.

I agree with Greg on this one. 24 hours with door open and power off should be more than enough

Now that I don’t understand I’m afraid, 7mA? Where and how do I check that?

Fortuantely for us BSH guys we are provided with a very good Gossen meter that can measure the earth leakage very accurately  .

Unfortunately it sounds asthough your meter doesn’t have this facility 🙁 .

But I still say you’re in the clear with IR reading of 10 meg anyway 😀 .

I don’t think any BSH tec info would be required to fix this kind of fault.

Exactly, pretty straight forward repair 😕

    Re: RCD tripping house mains?

As said previously minimum insulation resistance is 2 meg, so ok there 😀 .
Could well be a case of cumulative earth leakage as you mentioned Martin.
Haveyou checked the equivalent leakage of the appliance?. So long as the reading is 7mA or less then you’re in the clear

Don’t you just hate those customers who give you that “it was alright til you touched it” crap 😈

A man gets home from the pub, he sits in his favourite chair and shouts to his wife “quick get me a beer before it starts!” she obliges.

10 minutes later he shouts the same and his wife replies “you lazy barsteward, you never do anything”

he puts his head in his hands and moans ” damn , its started.”
