You NEVER EVER tip machines upside down, well, not unless you’re putting it in the skip that is. (Might be the best move in this case by the way – but that is just my own personal take TBH).
Thanks for the warning, I don’t literally mean tipping upside down, some machines you tip it sideways. I have come across a fair few drum failures and rarely carry out the repairs as I found 90{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} of it are not worth it after taking into account of the age of the machine and it’s not a good use of labour. Most of my clients want me out of their house within 2 hours!
I will look forward to the job with an angle grinder! BTW has anyone actually bought a cast iron spider for the machine (I saw the spider advertised on Connect)? me thinks it like trying to spruce up a Lada!

gosh! my poor optic nerves…it’s very fast. Looks like as if someone released the handbrake.
Well done!

Do you have the motor somewhere suedehead?

Kwatt – you do a great job and what we would have done without you?
I do not mean to moan, like everyone are frustrated at the slow speed and becoming at the verge of unusable and potentially turning down new jobs due to lack of access in order to brush up our knowledge. Any new things with computers always start of slow, I look forward when it comes together at full speed.
I am just trying to navigate my way round, usually I do not mind and enjoy it. I had to turn one job away as I could not access information on a particular Hoover washer but I am not complaining just the fact of life! I am prepared to put up with teething problems, so do keep up with the good work as long I can still access to this trade forum while I on the repair job.

Is it me as I can’t find how to put a new posting on the forum? I would have thought there would have been a button that I can click on or is it for specific members? Can anyone tell me where to put a new post?
I rely alot on ukwhitegoods for support and I am concern of the slow speed and the lack of result throw back on the search. Perhaps you are still reindexing the posts and that is taking some time?

I do have a disclaimer for the client to waive any rights to make a claim for any damages. This disclaimer saved me many times.

ParticipantRe: Bosch Classix tumble dryer – low heat – WTE84104GB/17
I visited the tumble dryer, it’s the condensing one. First condensing I’ve ever worked on…
I went through the basics such as earth continuity which is fine, insulation is fine.
Checked the thermo on the heater – it’s closed circuit
the heater unit via the plug – one side is 21ohms and the other is 111ohms
the black thing I presume it’s the sensor – reading is 21ohms
water pump is fine.
Could not get to the moisture sensor but how on earth do I test it, scrubbed it clean for good measure.Slight leak on the front chamber which it is not sealed up tight, weak clips I think.
So I can’t find any obvious faults which is causing the poor heating. Before I took the cover off, I checked the heat which was lukewarm, then after I carried out the test with the probes, prodding and checking the connections, the dryer seems to normal with strong heat output. Not sure what I did to make it work. Me thinks it could be dust or lose connection somewhere that got shifted when I moved it.
I keep wondering if the heater unit is the culprit due to the fairly high resistance on the heater unit – perhaps it’s for the low heat setting? rather tricky to do insulation test on the heater unit so I declined.
any thoughts?
BTW – I can’t seem to get parts for this dryer (from three different suppliers) – either it’s too old or too new or too problematic?

ParticipantRe: Hotpoint Dryer – VTD00P
Thanks mate,
I did look at the previous post on same topic. Just that I’m a little thick as the previous post was saying their machine is a later model. So I am trying to figure out which is which. All that I know the machine is 2 years old, funny how things change so quickly on the same production line using different components that does the same job. Makes me wonder if they do it deliberately to mess us about?
I take this as a lesson learnt that I should have gone with my gut feeling about the pcb relay.

Serial number is 504220656
Are you saying the door interlock is the problem? That’s interesting…please confirm what do I need to do next.

Thanks Martin,
I feel much better knowing that I have taken other people advice.
What you said about the soap dispenser unit being blown and caused the PCB board to blow, I must say that really explains it as the owner of the dishwasher said that the soap dispenser did not open. So the penny finally dropped.
Like you said I learn from experience which it is very true. 18 months ago I would not have the confidence to tackle it but with UKW forum it really boosted it.

The base of the dishwasher was bone dry. No evidence of water leak. The float chamber is working, checked the connections and all appears to be sound. But not solved the continuous draining.
The dishwasher is well looked after with filter cleaned regularly. There are no signs of blockage.
It’s a quite an old machine though. The client felt that the time would be better put toward a new dishwasher. Wish I knew what’s wrong with it, I wonder if it’s like what Pinky said PCB faults.

Thanks Pinky,
The polysterene float, is that on the base of the dishwasher at the very bottom right onto the floor?
I feel that I am equipped for a battle…armed with towels and gloves!

ParticipantRe: Hotpoint Aquarius – WF000G – fast spin at start
The wiring on the machine are in tip top condition. No signs of wear or loose connection.
I have a hunch that it could have be the tacho on the motor. I looked up on Masterpart and Connect for spares for tacho, looks like that it is not repairable.
My client is not keen to spend more money on it. The motor would have costed around £90, I even offered to try it out and return the motor back at no extra cost. Time is the essence here and there is a limit on how long a family can live without a washing machine so as a result the job was terminated. Still I was offered the machine to take home to repair as much I would have liked to but declined the offer.
Still I can’t fix all machines otherwise I would have been loaded!!

Assuming that all the wirings are ok, what else should I look for?

Points taken.
Thank you for the advice. Now I will have to try put things right and hope not to make the same mistake again.
