can get you tech and info on any you want and sometimes there is a bullitin for common errors and proposed fixes

there is as you prob know a pressure sw mod on some of them for blocking of the pressure sw feed pipe

That would be helpful, thank you.

I have had i40 error codes, i50 error codes and flooding for no apparent reason, just that I am flummoxed by it all.

I do see a lot of them round here and they all comes in different guises. Roughly once a week. There are few new builds round here also quite a number properties had a kitchen refurb with Ikea, Howdens and Benchmark as well by small kitchen fitting firms (short business lifespan – often bankrupt after few years). There is a AEG/Electrolux graded goods refurbisher nearby and I am often called out to these appliances when it is out of guarantee.

I don’t have the luxury to take home the broken AEG dishwasher to carry out post mortem on it.

Is this a common occurrence for the sump to leak? I spent ages trying to figure out why the dishwasher is leaking despite replacing the pump seal. It wasn’t apparent until 4 or 5 washes later.

The whitegoods suppliers weren’t so helpful and threw in lots of obstacles in order to frustrate me. The amount of work I am getting is unbelievable but it is not the usual sort of work that I do, major manufacturers weren’t coming out and left the customers stranded so I came to the rescue. Very difficult to turn down work when the caller sounded desperate especially parents with children. I hope the workload will ease off a bit when the manufacturers starts coming out to fix their appliances. Facebook have been extremely useful when one start posting for washing machine repair man, people starts recommending me as word got around very quickly that I am still around when others have let them down.

The biggest headache of them all are dishwashers being left standing and broken for months which makes the job harder to fix.

Customers are mostly doing a good job social distancing but their dogs aren’t!

I supplied two Ebacs and both of my customers slated it. It doesn’t float their boats. I think they found it not so user friendly and the washing performances gives a lot to be desired. Which? doesn’t recommend them.

This is the first time I have managed to get some time “touching base” on what’s happening in the Whitegoods industry. I am still operating as normal-ish and applying 2 metres distancing rules and requesting all kids and pets to be in another room. Generally customers let me in via the back door, talk through the window or text messaging/facetime. So far all of my customers complied with my request, as for getting payment for the job meant it went on-line and this sadly increased my overall operating costs. Pre Covid-19, my main source of payment were through cash, cheques and the occasional bank transfers but I have to make the switch to on-line so that none of my customers will pull a fast one by not paying. So far the system seems to be working for the time being.

My main spare parts suppliers are still open but dragging their feet on sending the parts out which left me telling customers “I will call you when the parts arrive” rather than booking a return visit in advance. I usually collect the parts from them and now am having to get it delivered which added to the overall operating costs. Diesel gone down in prices, my average MPG have improved from 25mpg to 33mpg due to the lack of traffic on the road which meant I am filling up less often.

As for getting replacement appliances which is a whole new ball game, I have a feeling that stock levels are dependant on what they have in their warehouses and showrooms and redistributing around the country. Their websites aren’t quite up to date on what’s happening on the ground level on stocks so there were fair amount of telephone calls. I admit that there were a fair amount of cursing when suppliers starts moving the goalposts and adding layers of restrictions.

Work load have tailed off a bit as the advertisers aren’t pulling their weights about on delivering the booklets to the doorsteps in my home town. Strange how postal workers and internet delivery drivers are still able to deliver but not distributors of advertising! But I am enjoying the slightly reduced workload and I get to have a lie in! Well instead of waking at 6am, I wake up at 7am – ruddy kids!

With me starting late, I get to go out cycling for 20 miles regularly whilst taking advantage of the empty roads of Birmingham. I am keeping safe and we are very clear on the rules when people call us for repairs.

I have a job that described similar as yours except at the end of the cycle. Owner says it was stuck at one minute and the motor jolted as if it was stuck and attempted to shift. I attempted to resolve this by calibration which worked for couple of cycles then it played up.

I’ve seen this on Beko washers and found that motor pcb module was to blame.

am I correct in thinking that it’s the main pcb module not the fascia pcb module?

It was indeed the pressure hose, as Kentish said it was the result of the drum movement between the clips. It was such a relief to be able to fix it, I tried to think of a solution to prevent a repeat but then decided against in case if they want me back in few years time…

Not aware of pin hole, are you saying the (assuming you mean the rubber tube from the tub to the pressure sensor) tube has a split?

On that bombshell, I have never been in this position before where I have sold over 34 units (Total value approx over £8k) that falls under the recall. Part of me feels a sense of duty of care that I should trace and track down the customers and advise them to contact Whirlpool or should I do nothing and if customer calls me then I will just direct them to Whirlpool? Would that be a dereliction of duty to the customers? I have asked my wife the office admin to hang fire and allow me to get clarification.

I have already had my supplier who traced and traced all the machines affected and presented me the list of when it was purchase and invoice numbers. My supplier “might” take back the affected appliances and exchange on behalf of Whirlpool but at my own expenses – ah I am not prepared to work for nothing.

Too many things to consider such as GDPR with regards to contacting customers that goes back 5/6 years, notify liability insurance to “warn them in case of a claim if one or two decides to follow up the badly advised TV presenter’s advice”, duty of care, chances of reclaiming ‘admin’ costs from Whirlpool for tracking and tracing customers for them?

What are the best approaches? It is causing me to lose sleep and I am kind of treading this very carefully unsure how to get a handle on this.

Think you mean that motor thing that diverts water as part of a whole unit of heating element?
