Thanks, I’ll get the agent to contact the water authority.

Thanks for that iadom, I wonder why connect couldn’t find it by description?

Re: Which is worse in your opinion, overloading or underload

    Overloading.
Under-loading; the majority of machines have an out of balance detection system so would be less likely to cause a problem. The worst that will happen is it will refuse to spin for that wash.
Over-loading; the clothes will not wash or rinse properly.
There is an increased risk of items getting pulled down between the tubs and either jamming the drum or blocking the sump/filter.

As I mentioned before “there are no obvious signs of water ingress however it’s possibly a water mark on the solder joint to the right of the burn mark”.
There were no other indications of damp or moisture, the insulation pad alongside the PCB was also dry. The PCB case is well enclose so the most likely cause as electrofix suggests would be condensation but there wasno indication of this other than the mark on the PCB.
Maybe there is a design fault, it would be interesting to know.

    Just to give a final update to this;
BSH looked at the machine and felt it might be caused by water so they are replacing for the customer.
    Thanks for the advise Dave.

Conditions in this kitchen didn’t seem to lend themselves to condensation (unlike some I’ve worked in) but definitely worth considering.

    Thanks for the input Dave.

    Thanks Dave,
I wasn’t sure if the fire caused the IC and chip to blow or the other way round.
There are no obvious signs of water ingress however it’s possibly a water mark on the solder joint to the right of the burn mark.
It transpired when I got to this machine that it’s still under warranty but wanted to try and find out the likely cause for my own satisfaction.

The customer decided to replace the machine in the end so I can’t give any further update to this.
Having tried all other possibilities I decided the most likely problem would be the PCB but without trying it I couldn’t be sure.

Re: Does anyone use Paym to receive payments

I looked t a few alternatives like Paypal but I think the process of generating an online invoice and putting through Paypal and then the customer receiving and going through the payment process followed by confirming the payment was received would be quite time consuming when you’re on the road.

If I remember correctly SWIP, although there is no setup charge there was a small fee for the reader. There is also about a 3.5{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} transaction charge.
One concern was whether customers would be hesitant entering there PIN into your mobile phone.
The other concern was at the time I looked into this I was with Orange and the data signal in my area was appalling. As a rule the mobile phone signal is less erratic.
With Paym it is completely free, there’s no additional equipment required and no data connection required. You don’t need a merchant account which keeps accounting to a minimum. Providing a customer is registered to use this system it couldn’t be simpler.
According to the Bank it is becoming more popular and more people are registering to use it.
I wonder if this could be a payment method of the future.

We use SWIPE as there is no monthly charge and only requires a mobile phone signal. e mails & texts to advise when monies are paid into your main bank account.
You can set it up so that the customer is charged for the transaction charges also.

I will take a look at this.

Re: LED lighting in kitchens ……

I don’t find the LED lighting a problem. My own kitchen is lit by LED down-lights and it’s so bright we only use the under cupboard lights in the evening.
A lot of my work is for letting agents and I find so many tenants don’t replace the bloody light bulbs so you have a kitchen with only one spot light that you can guarantee is pointing in the wrong direction and at the opposite end of the kitchen.
That’s when my ‘Old Gits’ syndrome kicks in.
You then end up with the customer trying to shine a torch over your shoulder which is worse than a customer cleaning the top of a machine while your trying to work on it!

    Re: AEG F55002VI0P Dishwasher i20

Having returned to this and reset the PCB, flushed out the air chamber and still had the fault I replaced the pressure switch, reset the PCB and again can’t get the machine to fill.
I reset the PCB and started a program.
30 seconds after closing the door the pump runs for 1min 30seconds.
It then stops for a couple of seconds and then the drain pump runs again for another 1min 30 seconds.
It then stops for a further 10 seconds and returns to pumping for 1min 30 seconds
After the above sequence the machine bleeps and displays i20 which is “Fails to drain”
I think I have exhausted all possibilities apart from the PCB.

    Have I missed anything?

    Thanks Jim, that’s great.
Thanks for the part numbers and advice fitting the door seal. I probably wouldn’t have risked it but will give it a go now.
    Cheers,
    Keith.

    Just a quick update.
I returned and tried disconnecting smaller components but still nothing on the display.
    Still, worth checking.

    Thanks nomadPaul,
That’s a new one to me, I will go back and start disconnecting.
If I cause an error doing this will I need to reset the machine after or will reconnecting the component clear any fault?
