ParticipantHoovers are bad for video 1 problem (door seal badly fitted tub side).

ParticipantWent to this machine this morning and turns out as you first suggested that the water was syphoning out. The drain hose was too far down the drain pipe.
All programmes start by filling slightly, the machine sits there for a while and then it pumps out for a couple of seconds (I assume it’s to get rid of the previous wash’s residual water). After the pump stopped, it would carry on emptying at this point.
The reason it was not doing it on Full Load 45 min is because on that programme, it doesn’t do the short pump out.

ParticipantThanks Dave, most edifying.:)

ParticipantBingo!
Thanks so much, Dave.
The serial number of the machine starts with 2206, so there are two fill pipes i.e. 273 and 273a, the part I am after is 43036963. Not in stock at ASWO though… but I’ll keep looking.
I don’t often think or say this, but ASWO has been most unhelpful this time around. Presumably they have access to the hoover site like you, and I gave them the serial number, but no, they wanted a picture of the rating plate and of the original part. Obviously I couldn’t do that as I have made a temp repair to the machine and didn’t take the part off.

ParticipantThanks Dave, got them.
It doesn’t look a bit like that machine I went to unfortunately!! And these are the diagrams that ASWO also have…

Wondering if there are several entries under part position 273?

ParticipantThanks Dave, will try to remember myself!!
In the meantime, have sent a request on ASWO. There is also someone breaking this model on eBay, I’ve asked if they have the hoses.
washingmachinewoman
ParticipantThey’re also on eBay, some of their repairs are cheaper on there.
Look for e.g. “PCB repair service hoover” to find them (qer_ltd), then you can save them as a seller.washingmachinewoman
ParticipantThanks Dave, I’ll have a good look at that pressure system first, and take it from there.
washingmachinewoman
ParticipantThey say they inherited the machine, I assume therefore they don’t have access to the Hotpoint parts guarantee.
washingmachinewoman
ParticipantAre you thinking the program on the chip? If so, ASWO sell programmed boards, all down to whether customer wants to pay the money.
washingmachinewoman
ParticipantMore info, the customer had failed to mention the machine drains in between the fills.
So the sequence is fill, agitate the clothes a bit, then drain ad infinitum.
So there’s no overfilling.Still thinking pressure system. Or board problem, or wiring?

I guess it could still be syphoning out if it’s not using the pressure switch readings. But would there be enough water left to do a wash??!

washingmachinewoman
ParticipantI hadn’t thought of that though wouldn’t it be syphoning out on the 45 min cycle too?
washingmachinewoman
ParticipantRight, so got more info from the customer: model number is NSWM843CWUKN, industry code 769991609841
The program working correctly is Full Load 45 min
On the other programs it keeps adding water and sloshing the laundry around. This makes me think pressure system problem. If it was filling for a set time on the 45 min cycle, but on the other cycles using pressure switch readings, then if the pressure system is not working properly, that behaviour would make sense.
washingmachinewoman
ParticipantWasn’t that this time. When on/off switch was pressed it tripped the electrics. Then the button would not keep down, although light came on, and the machine would just sit there doing nothing.
On inspection, a track was blown on timer and the on/off switch also needed replacing.
It was a heck of a fiddly job, with the two screws holding the timer to the frame seized. The top one was especially tricky as the head was damaged. Not to mention all the brittle plastic everywhere. It nearly defeated me, that one. -
