thats the pump I fitted. think pump number change is just to simplify stock to two types clip and screw, (new pump does have TOC ) looks like a board then! customer will love that! hardly worth doing.

    thanks lads!

earth leakage causes wierd faults on digital electronics, if you have a spare motor to try that is known to be good try, it if not try drying out the damp one (if it is just damp) . under one meg its a fail anyway!

stick the motor somewhere hot for a couple of days ( greenhouse boiler room etc ) then retest . might be damp due to storage conditions.

Re: Poor wash complaints, new Hotpoint

trouble is with lecturing the customer is that they can take offence washing is a life basic skill not a new skill to be learnt like computers or dvd players. if a customer has used different machines and powders for years with accepted results and the new machine dissapoints then” trying to teach your grandmother to suck eggs” can soon look like your trying to find excuses for a poor product. I generally advise “trying different powders descaleing etc” once I even found out an old hoover manual to prove that old machinces took more water and “yes the new one works differently”
tread carefully trying to educate customers you can only lose a customer once!

if this machine replaced an old machine with greater water use Ive had similar problem. customer even wanted her old 18371 back convinced that using more water it rinsed better as I couldnt test” before and after” I just had to rely on trying to persuade her that we realy hadnt had other complaints, which we hadnt…………….then we replaced a logic………same story
seem to me that some people have a more developed sense of touch!

    Re: Does size matter?

Ive noticed this too, the lux with the small cover over the element is very tight. the first time I came across it was a couple of years back christmas eve, I explained the problem to the customer and cleared the fan by bending it very slightly at the tips got them through christmas and as far as I know still running ok. Ive done the same with the same type for other customers and had no call backs.

Re: How do you drain off a flooded WMA?

Ive got an old vax 2000 with a numatic squeegy floor tool he 😉 ld in just under door and SLOWLY EASE THE DOOR OPEN A BIT AT A TIME . a few rags to catch the spills and a suck up on the floor between bucket empties and bobs your uncle. even on carpet floor it hardly spills enough to worry about. I find this the best method as over full machines are too heavy to pull out, customers usually impressed as most of them expected floods.

yes I had one of those, you can see the imprint of bolt heads in the plastic that held the mould in place . odd looking thing. replaced with standard rear half and spider without any trouble

Re: Will we be regulated by Corgi?

who will regulate us? who will pay for it ? what product will it cover? how will it be enforced? what about cross over faults (faulty plumbing/electrical inst causing appliance fault)? what about second hand product (private sale included)?
with cheaper and cheaper prices and more reliable product us dwindling band of mostly self employed mostly older workers that find it ever more difficult to make a living will not be able to make a living at all. city areas might generate enough work to offset costs but the poorer more remote areas would not support or tolerate the added costs. than theres DIY repairs, is there an MOT system to be brought in ? are we to be prohibited from selling spares? (ouch!)
    then theres WEEE…………………………………….
