`Charles Hyde is good for Vestel spares at a reasonable price` Update: that business closed down end of this November! Another supplier gone, sad day that`s for sure after 50 years in business.

ParticipantRe: Amica AWCT 12l
Doesn`t make sense to me! Does the door lock? Does it do anything? Does anything happen at all? If not, I had an Amica do something similar, but I have to say it wasn`t your model, and it was the pcboard mucking about.

ParticipantRe: hotpoint aqualtis weight coil springs
Hi Gerry and Electrofix. Thanks.
£242!!! Hotpoint UK are doing these tanks at 109 quid delivered but it is true that I`ve seen them as high as nearly 200 quid which is a rip off ( yourspares ). But, whatever the price if I can`t get the coil springs out it is a hopeless case. Told her to go to Hotpoint since under 5 years old if she wants to bother with the offending contraption.December 5, 2016 at 8:27 pm in reply to: 2nd hand machines with splitable tubs & brushless motors? #4429991totalshambles

Iadom Yep that`s true. But I wouldn`t recommend any Bosch washer dryers unless someone wanted to take pot luck on spares availability on a 20 year old model which were good machines at 30 quid off ebay. Recent w/dryers ( 7 year old ones to newer ) are a load of tosh- spiders break.
Brushless motors I wouldn`t recommend-motors very good that`s true but pcb`s fail-mega expensive to put right.
There`s no easy answer in my view. So might as well buy 2 Bush 6kg machines and keep it simple- note some Bush are Chinese i.e. one might be a Hisense rebadged circ 200 quid. The Turkish made Bush are easiest to get spares- Charles Hyde is good for Vestel spares at a reasonable price. I work on quite a few Bush and look a likes- only because there`s loads of them around because most others won`t sully their paws on them; read: can`t charge the price they`d like to repairing sub 200 quid machines which is the real reason. Other than the mass of low temp programmes which if used without regular cycle descaling or internal cleaning which kills these machines other than that they`re not that bad a machine, though the Proaction 5 or 6kg 1000 spin in my view is slightly better than a Bush but the Luxor 1400 for £189 from The Range shop chain with 2 years warranty is an absolute bargain, given the better selection of programmes, and that`s Vestel turkish too as are White Knight washing machines but these often have rip off spare prices with Partmaster ee.g. 100 quid for a door seal as opposed to 18 quid elsewhere… its the same part people!… you X ref the parts with help from Charles but then for another 30 quid you can get a 10 year parts warranted Indesit Innex ( which I personally wouldn`t touch with a 20 foot barge pole ) but if the pcb jacks, as it most likely will, you can`t fix the poxy thing yourself ( Bush/ Proaction/ Luxor pcb`s are swop overs without any pussy footing around with programming new boards-very sensibly so as are the splittable drums for bearing changes where you buy the 2 bearings and oil seal NOT the expensive listed rear half tank unless you can pick one up new for 35 quid off ebay, and you can if you look ) and in anycase since Indesit/Hotpoint now owned by the Yanks ( Whirlpool ) the call out to get your freebee part/s could rise to £150 for anyone knows in the near future making the warranty more or less worthless; a typical Yankie type business trick!! There`s always something isn`t there!December 5, 2016 at 8:01 pm in reply to: Lamona HJA 8514 – not spinning but does rotate – fixed #4431791totalshambles
ParticipantRe: Lamona HJA 8514 – not spinning but does rotate – fixed
Very good idea is to change the belt as they stretch about 2 inches. Abstractly, this can actually be the major cause of the problem rather than a pcboard chip problem or anything else and I`ve proved it to be.

ParticipantRe: Zanussi dishwasher zdt12011fa
Thanks Bazza.
Update. Spot on and mucho thanks, the kit cured the problem. What happens is the original p/swt gets blocked up internally with food sludge with the mod kit you get an air trap, new p/swt and rubbery bits which long`ish term should cure the problem, easy to fit as well although I can`t see many of the Joe public doing it themselves. The modification kit is circ 25 quid- so once again because Electrolux/Zanussi/AEG screwed up as a customer your expected to foot the bill…hath the trade got total contempt? Or is it just me being cynical?1totalshambles
ParticipantRe: Bosch WAQ28460 Error Code 13
Older post but here goes. Not pumping out for whatever reason. Blocked filter/ jammed pump impellor, blockage elsewhere, nuked pump.

ParticipantRe: Indesit IWSC 61251 W/M Very loud buzzing
No. Usually all this is a faulty pump. There is something not right with the cylinder magnet within the pump/ something wrapped around the pump`s impellor e.g. hair band OR the pumps 4 screws that hold it on to the chassis behind the plinth are loose, which is possible though unlikely OR the plinth isn`t clipped in properly and vibrates.

ParticipantRe: Rotten egg smell when using Beko washing machine
Fairly common problem in flats more than houses. Not necessarily the actual washing machine but the waste down pipe/ or under the sink washing machine outlet nozzle area. As the machine pumps out the h2o compresses the air which tends to either come out ponging out of the top of a stand pipe or out of the sink o/flow or plug hole. Whatever it is it`s usually a sulpherized waste food smell.

ParticipantRe: Bosch condenser tumble dryer
Blimey I forgot the damn up-date.
Spot on everyone it was the pcb. Sent it away for repair because of desoldering the power chip thingy looked difficult given the tools available.
All groovy now, thanks for your help.1totalshambles
ParticipantRe: Bosch condenser tumble dryer
Thanks Dave and Martin. Will give it a go as there`s not much option left. `Project Bosch`:to boldly go where several thousand have no-doubt been before`.
I`ll let you know the outcome. Hopefully he`s still got it and hasn`t chucked it, me thinks better text him pronto!1totalshambles
ParticipantRe: Bosch condenser tumble dryer
Hi Martin.
Alas I looked at the back, front, door, base even but the model number is gone only finding an incomplete sticky label on the front of the front panel just below the door`s porthole; illegible at best. I may now be up the creek without a paddle on this one but if anyone has got any ideas based on the info I provided based soley on their experience, of which I have very little on these Bosch tumble dryers, that may well prove to be helpful. When the tumble dryer stops there are no flashing neon lights; there`s nothing.
I`ve had Bosch t/dryers flash up a f/code before but never have had one go wrong with the symptoms as noted.1totalshambles
ParticipantRe: The curious tale of a Bosch w/dryer
Happy days indeed. No I`m going sea fishing which is even more stressful when I retire, that and the library which maybe is even worse.
You know I don`t like being critical or certainly appearing nasty but all I can do is write in and mention what I bump in to, its a forum and that`s what forums are for and certainly not an old boy closed network, some of which are poor machines irrespective of the flashy badge name and at a high price. If your a retailer you need to know this because out of warranty Joe public might be expecting you to pick up the bill or part of it.
Andy`s website is in fact very good, actually locally it is the best site around and tells it like it is even if you don`t want to hear it; Andy doesn`t do happy clappy; it`s all his own work non copied and based on his own experience, what a lovely bloke he is to spend his time writing in to a whitegoods forum!
Thanks for your comments.1totalshambles
ParticipantRe: Bosch washing machine burning smell inside drum
The run out is only around 2mm and doesn’t rub all the time, only when it’s doing a spin and not every wash, weight of the wash doesn’t make a difference as far as I can tell.
Are but that depends where the drum`s support, aka the spider is cracked. If cracked near the hub the drum will only go into warp mode at top whack spin and then kiss the door seal and that`ll be with a fair sized load but beware as the 2 other spider arms will soon crack so you either stop using the machine and get it fixed…..big dosh as you`ll need a new drum and bearings or a new oil seal at the least and a new drum or you scrap the blighter-big loss and worth £5 on ebay. What you do not want is for the drum to drop and cut through the stainless/or plastic tank on a rinse spin with the horrendous leak that follows and an insurance claim. This is becoming common and these machines are not cheap. Part of the cause is to read Uk whitegoods smelly washing machine article and this will tell you why and a bit about prevention although it really is more complex subject than the article portrays in reality i.e simplistic for instance different types of bacteria affect Al2 alloys in different ways and at different speeds depending upon the water, the detergent, the load relative to detergent and above all the temperature-low temp washing is one of the biggest causes so save energy but nuke your machine prematurely in the process; clever isn`t it?1totalshambles
ParticipantRe: Washing Machine For Single Person?
“He has replaced the pump and the drawer and done various tests to see if any error codes are displayed but he still can’t find the problem.”
I know this is an old post but had a similar Beko fault 1 month ago. Did he change the actual soap box as well as the draw? What can happen is the breather part of the soap box gets part blocked which causes a vacuum within the machine and although the machine pumps out this vacuum affect can cause H2O to spit out of the soap box on rinses…..just a thought should anyone else come a cropper in future!
