ParticipantRe: BOSCH WASHER DRYER STOPS MID CYCLE
Hi.
Ok so this machine does the wash programme but goofs up on the rinses and the door can be opened when it mucks up. But if set on to spin it`ll work ok.
PCB? You could well be right? This is a long shot idea: best thing to do 1st is get on to Bosch`s parts website, get to page 4 of the exploded parts drawing and find in the picture 0410-air trap hose and 0401-pressure switch and 0420-sump hose. You might have an inverse blockage of yukk in the air trap. Caution, touch the absolute minimum especially the sump hose if you can avoid it so best thing is power off, lid off, gently pull off thin long rubber hose off the pressure switch and blow down this pipe, if as you blow you first feel a little resistance or you go red in the face that`s your kiddy and it`ll be part blocked up / blocked up. What i`d then do is refit the hose to p/swt and retest the machine and see what happens. What is happening: the machine is probablly over filling but not enough to cause a flood-you don`t want one either!-because of the part blockage. When the machine comes to pump out there`s 2 things 1) there`s more h2o that is usual and 2) the blockage is restricting the compressed air so the p/swt will not click out so the machine thinks it has aload of water still inside, as well it might due to more h2o than normal, but even if it has pumped out properly the machine will not spin and so sticks doing nothing in no man`s land. The only thing that blows this theory out of the water is why does the door lock unlock if the power is still on…….good question, don`t know!
Could also be the inlet valve not shutting off BUT with no air trap blockage, and no p/swt problem because simply the valve solenoid plunger is getting stuck-pretty rare fault – but a possibility. The machine overfills, and the p/swt senses this and turns pump on/ turns the machine off????
Best of luck with the suggestions. Let us know the out come if any1totalshambles

check the suspension legs for wear I`d also, if you haven`t already, check the p/swt rubber hose for any tiny split-they usually muck up where the pipe is pushed on to the p/swt- and it`s a pin prick hole and not easy to see.

“Martin is quite correct…and I’ve heard anecdotally that a number of the WQ machines have had this problem. At two years old the manufacturer is unlikely to quibble….”
And the Bosch and the Neff sister branded machines too bearing failure is common. I`m almost retired now so I don`t repair a lot of machines but my point is even I come across this ever increasingly so that surely makes things worse. I have also come across heater failure because the pcb relay sticks alowing the heater to come on full blast for 5 secs on spin just before its internal fuse goes pop. This supposed up market stuff is no longer reliable and the sooner the public and the trade stops trying to kid themselves the better. I seriously think folks would be far better off with a simple 6kg 1200 spin Logik for less than 200 quid e.g L612WM13. Why? Parts are fairly cheap, thousands of them sold because they are so reasonable and then they`re expendable when they go wrong big time, never been to one where the bearings have failed at 2 years old, 4 yes but not 2! Why does the trade not like these machines? There`s no money to be made on repairs that`s why or rather who`s going to lash out a typical 60 quid callout plus parts on a 170 quid machine that`s 5 years old, answer: only a very few people.

And your model and pnc/product numbers are?
Err, check with a meter the wash heater though you really need a megger to test the heater for an earth fault.1totalshambles

Hi.
Found the above ref your LG top loader. Not at all sure, because the terminology is different which bit do you mean, presume for “tub” you mean the drum -bit that spins. So tell us which nut is giving you grief e.g. the rotor nut? I take it you remembered to refit the spacer diagram part K030 the spacer with 2 flats under the impellor? Or do you mean the drum securing washer diagram part K040 and its washer? K064 spacer gasket missing? Something somewhere sounds as though it is missing on reassembly providing the parts replaced are the right ones which seems unlikely that they wouldn`t be wrong. Sorry to be vague and cast any doubts, as far as known these machines are not imported in to UK so my experience is zilch but thought I`d have a bash at it.1totalshambles

Thanks I suspect as much given the Askoll drain pumps and dishwasher motors.Yes I`ve already looked up the price of the motor and your spot on that it isn`t reasonable; yeeks! Shame I haven`t got a second hand one to try but that would be useful. Me thinks a hasty retreat as I can`t take the gamble if I`m wrong and lose both my shirt, shoes and undies; cowardly I know but sensible! Ridiculous priced parts these days …..moan…..groan……and even more grumble.

Martin, old fruit, old thing.
Nope, he saw the Argos Bush XMas day special 8kg 1400 spin at a groovy £150 and thought, hmm, instead do I buy a mid range Bosch with potential drum bearing/spider arm failure at 4 years old at 400 odd quid or do I get to own and play about with my Chinese Bush ( now keep it clean please! ) get 3 years out of it maybe even 7 years and go away laughing all the way to The Leeds either way.
Dilemmas, dilemmas.1totalshambles

Martin`s Xmas wit!
If it is the motor brushes and a Haier motor change the black plastic motor brushes for Indesit brick red holder type part number C00273898 ( but it is up to you via a picture to double check ) as these are harder carbons but run them in 1st over 2 to 4 washes minimum with small/light loads first and these will last longer in the long run.
Holme, Haus, Haier and some Chinese Amica machines are not that bad a machine in the lower spin and capacity sizes but not as easy to work on compared with Vestel Turkish stuff but there`s not a lot in it really except bearing changes..
Some of these cheaper brands, overall, can be very successful: 1000spin Haus £<£180, 7 years old gone wrong once-filter blockage and is still going ok. Neff circ 800 quid, drum bearings failed at 3-4 years old £460 on parts alone to put right equals 8 boxes of Kleenex tissues worth in tears alone!Happy New Year Martin.

ParticipantRe: LG Washer Dryer
With my trusty ZWF1221 giving us smelly washing and now failing with a strange code on top of failing to find someone to swap the drum seal I’ve decided to change it.
What is the strange code? Why the need to change the tank seal, is it because you want to dismantle it to clean out the rubbish or does it appear to leak from the t/seal? Most leaks at 6o/clock on these things are caused by a hole in the dispenser to tank hose and the water runs down the curvature of the tank giving the impression you have a leaking seal when it is not the case.
Washer dryers: lay down and avoid!1totalshambles
ParticipantRe: Holme washing machine
Usually it`s motor brushes worn out.
Word of caution. This machine from memory is the same as a Russel Hobbs ( Chinese re-badged Haier )and if I`m right it is fairly common that one motor brush wears out way faster than t`other so just because one brush carbon is a healthy 4cm long will not mean the other will be too so check both.1totalshambles

Thanks everyone I sussed it, it was the curse of modern man i.e. the pcboard

ParticipantRe: Beko c/tdryer DCU6130W
Hi Dave, thanks as always. Yes I thought of that, i.e. not sensing damp clothes in the machine = no heat. So did try on timed heat but makes no difference. Any other ideas please

ParticipantRe: Miele W1613 out of balance?
So on proper spin this machine sounds very noisy………is it a loud knock knock noise? Stretched springs are unlikely. Miss fitted springs debatable as to the cause and no play up and no down in drum relative to the tank is detected. If you want an opinion I think you still have a fractured internal drum spider arm but nearer the hub ( bearing shaft ) than would usually be the case i.e the fracture is at the thickest part of the casting rather than the more usual thinner part near where the spider arm attaches to the drum and thats why nothing is overly obvious. If you`ve changed the lower suspension legs and they are the right parts, and I`d be surprised if they were wrong or even if wrong not that wrong to cause a problem, other than split chassis welds it is sounding like a spider arm fracture itself causing the noise or throwing the whole load off kilter. And if so at only 8 years old the machine has been a disaster relative to how much these things cost relative to normal household usage. If you can suss this it would be good for us all if for no other reason as to prove a long held belief of one covering the full spectrum of washing machines irrespective of their purchase cost. I hope you can suss this, I hope it is not the drum spider but if so please up date your post either way. Thanks.

ParticipantRe: What next
Bad luck or what! But the door locks shorting out on Indesit and Hotpoints because of the rather hopeless connector block is not unknown.
“Also there’s only the motor under where the flash came from could it be that?” Could be, but most likey the pcboard. So………
At a guess, because I haven`t looked up your model, your next point of call is to see if the pcboard has blown and if it has it usually gone pop somewhere near the middle of the board and you can`t really miss it.. That is the part as a consequence of an iffy lock that you saw go pop…….I hope for your sake that I`m wrong! -
